There've been quite a few changes this past week (or two).

Portsmouth picks up a sandbox cash infusion. They say they're going to spend responsibly, but you have to figure this may move them out of the relegation zone this season regardless.

The American takeover at Sunderland finally went through. The Black Cats also nicked a very good manager from Wigan in Steve Bruce. I'd think that moves Sunderland up the table as well. Some lower level mgrs don't transition well to big clubs (see Sam, Big) but the Bruce is one of those guys who I think will do well with more money. Wigan on the other hand have to be favorites to drop next year as a result.

Our friendly neighborhood scum have picked up a new gaffer. One who hardly lit Serie A on fire this past season. With all of the changes, one can only hope that chelski start to resemble the Toon.

Speaking of....while not in the Prem, Mike Ashley took the blame and put Newcastle on the blocks as well.

Ancelotti should not be fooled by a 3-year contract. Roman wants what he doesn't have and he wants all the credit for it. Why in the world else would he fire Murihno?

Once the 2010 WC is over -- if Ancelotti is still there -- he'll be fired and Hiddink will be hired in any case. It won't matter if he wins the ECL or not.

Agree with you down the line about Bruce. It's got to gall all the Toon that Bruce was born in Newcastle.
