We'd better get better quick if these changes go through, because if they'd been in place the past two season's we'd be in League 1.

Among the Football League changes being considered:
    • Only 20 teams in each of five divisions under the Premier League
    • Almost no mid-week league games - those would be reserved for tournaments
    • No FA Cup replays
The one thing they aren't changing is that 3 teams would still be promoted to the Premier League. Decision may not be made until November 2017.

I'm afraid we've already bungled the "get better quick" scenario, despite these potential changes. The cliche' is that it's easiest to earn promotion as soon as your relegated the following season. I'm not sure I buy that, but some evidence exists to support that. Burnley's going up this year, but Norwich is coming back down after a year, so, if you manage it but don't stick, what's the point? There's no evidence that we'll be in a position to challenge for promotion next season so, for me, it's a moot point.
