Geez.... one of the few COGENT libs gets in trouble for pointing out the obvious!
Look at it this way... John Edwards is just as good a speaker. Game, Set, Match!

And Obama this morning saying 'What if I said Hillary's where she is only because she's a woman?'

Well??!!!! She IS! Plus she's a former first lady.

Maureen Dowd sums up what Ferraro said towards the end of her editorial.

I consider myself an Obama supporter (I support McCain as well), but Ferraro is right to say that Obama is in the position he's in because he's black. His ethnicity has everything to do with him being popular right now. I'm also glad that Ferraro is standing up for what she said... because she's right.

Obama can't start to fall back on the "I'm black, so you can't say that" line of argument. Otherwise he'll get very unpopular, very quickly. It's actually a pretty smart political attack by Ferraro because it puts him that exact position.

But, Lyle, he HAS! Not in so many words.. he's far more savvy than Sharpton or Jackson.. but he uses the meme just the same.

In TRUTH, one has to tread eggshells when criticizing either Hillary or Barry, on any political issue having to do with race or gender but it's always open season on old white males.

The thing about Ferraro is, of course, that SHE should have been the one heading the campaign ticket she was on.

I know; it was tough voting in the Democratic primary. We had to decide whether we were racist or sexist.

So if McCain wins, the headlines will read:

    Sexist, racists vote in McCain!

That could be a new thread - what do you think the headlines would be based on the results of the US presidential election? You can do it for domestic or international papers.

In the incredibly unlikely event that the Democrats win, look for Limbaugh to resurrect: AMERICA HELD HOSTAGE!

What I actually think you'll see is "McCain Wins in Landslide"

I gotta object to this. You could say that Obama has been helped in certain scenarios because of his ethnicity. Particularly with regard to the initial media push which launched his candidacy. But you could also say that his ethnicity has hurt him in other scenarios and it will in the future.

What you cannot say is that the only reason he's popular is because he's black. Which is the implication of Ferraro's quote. It’s not a matter of just being black game over, there are quite a lot of black people who are very unpopular last I checked. If it were just about him being black he wouldn't have won Iowa, and he certainly wouldn't have lasted past Super Tuesday. The fact of the matter is he's an extremely talented politician who can communicate a vision. That is why he's in the position he's in.
Who’s a more talented politician than Barrack Obama right now? NO ONE

I mean Christ if someone knocks all your accomplishments and implies that you've only achieved them because your white you have a right to be defensive don't you? So how is this different?

I disagree with you. For someone who's done so little politically (hasn't even finished his first-term in the Senate), there is something about him other than his "talent" or accomplishments that make him special... and it's his race.

Clinton has her own help as well, her husband's coattails and her sex.

Such are the politics of elected office today.

Some reporter/commenter recently put up a list of those who 'ascended' to power without 'paying their dues' ... and he put Lamar Alexander on the list.

So what's enough? Remind you that Ferraro said herself the only reason SHE was on the 84 ticket was she WASNT named Gerald.

Look Barack MIGHT have been on the candidate list if he was white, but he would be maybe running slightly behind John Edwards and ONE of the two would be redundant.

This is true, although Obama is way more sincere than Edwards and a much better speaker, I think. Edwards is an absolute fake. Rich white trial lawyer who represents the downtrodden. Give me a break.
