No fooling, Fulham hasn't won a home league match since April 1st, and it's because of this that the Whites will win 2-1  They have to at some point don't they? This is surely MJ's last stand, right?? While it's still early in the season, these 3 points are vital (no matter who the manager going forward is) and Stoke on the road stinks. The key is to get a lead early, and hope the home support puts their knives away and get behind the lads.

I may be in the chatroom for this one. Time Warner Cable can't get me my channels all of a sudden. They hope to have it cleared up by Friday, but if not, I'll be in the CR with Gentleman Jim.

If they DO get it fixed, I'll be doing the View From South Texas. I can't miss writing about Jol's last match.

Fulhamish comes into play this weekend. The Whites win, comfortably, and thus, Jol retains his job for the next month only to see the club dragged further into the relegation mire by November before his eventual departure.

Don, are you referring to the "switch over"? Already happened over here a week ago and the new ch's are 420-424. If this is the week for your area, you should see the new ch's after midnight tonight.

As for the match...sad to say but I'm growing apathetic. Play well and put together a string of results or lose and fire Jol by Monday; either is fine with me. But if we continue with the same insipid performances and results and don't sack Jol asap, then I may have to reconsider why I'm bothering to follow this mess.

No, I'm missing about 25 channels all over the map -- including the weather channel. I get the "Temporarily Unavailable -- try again later" statement. After the 7th reboot [and 5th remote reboot] over two days, there was finally a change. There's still the missing channels, but now there's a nice buzz to accompany that.

I changed boxes after the 4th reboot, but the technician who is coming tomorrow is going to probably only bring another box, so I don't have a lot of hope. The account person confirmed [a] all the channels that I should receive and the fact that they're all in the system with no problem. Anyhow, if it gets fixed tomorrow, I'll watch and report. Otherwise I'll listen and be in the chat room.

Oh, by the way, the reason your channels changed earlier than mine is that you're evidently still considered an employee. The 2nd of 4 techs we talked to over the phone Monday night and Wednesday afternoon told me that "all of us got our channels changed early to make sure there were no bugs before the system goes on line for everyone.

BTW, there's an email for you, but it just basically says what I posted in the USWNT thread.

I have to think Sparky will get the better of us. 3-1 loss. And our woes will continue because I don't think Khan is ready to fire anyone and is he even paying attention?

Fulham vs. Stoke City - Three Questions
    By Andrew Beck

    Alex Livesey
James Whittaker, the excellent Stoke City blogger for ESPN FC, has answered the three questions this week.

I have a pit in my stomach about this game, I just can't shake the feeling that it's not going to go well. It doesn't help that Stoke supporters seem upbeat, and feel good to have Sparky managing them.

CC: Mark Hughes famously left Fulham because he believed the club lacked ambition. That never sat well with Fulham fans and we were pretty giddy with his failures at QPR. How have Stoke fans reacted to him so far?

James Whittaker: There may not have been blanket support on his appointment but his words and actions since arriving have won most fans over. Playing players in their correct positions, attempting to win away games and talking up his own side over the opposition is a good start which is the opposite to what Pulis used to do. He has a huge task transforming the playing style and he's made a great start and if people are honest with themselves they would admit it's perhaps even a quicker transition than anticipated.
CC: Last year Stoke started buying up American players (Cameron, Edu, Shea). That strategy seems to have continued under Hughes (Agudelo). Is there someone higher up driving this strategy and do you think there is something to it other than Americans being undervalued?

JW: Stoke have close links to local company Beswicks Sports who have an extensive network of players including a strong footprint over in the States. Our Director of Football used to work for them too so in that respect we had a bit of an advantage over other teams who were concentrating on the more popular European leagues.

The club see the American market as an untapped resource and are impressed at their level of professionalism and of course speaking English means that there are fewer issues with them integrating or understanding their manager/team mates. Obviously there is also the incentive of American players having much lower wage demands than the other countries I mentioned so there is real value for money to be had in these increasingly prudent times.
CC: I have to admit that I haven't watched Stoke much at all this year (they haven't been featured much on American TV). Under Pulis, their playing style was never very attractive. Has Hughes done much to address this? What kind of style are they playing now?

JW: You'll certainly be in for a surprise then as the style we play under Hughes is about as far removed from Pulis' as possible! The focus is on maintaining possession and allowing the better players to express themselves. Whilst the players at his disposal are largely the same, the difference on the pitch is remarkable though the players are still getting used to it so are yet to find some consistency.

Bringing a more attacking game has brought plenty more chances (last week excluded) but it has also led to a few more nerves in defence so the games are making for interesting viewing as players and manager alike try to find the right balance.
Key players, projected lineup, and score prediction

JW: Although he was one of many who had a poor game last week I would look out for Steven N'Zonzi who has been key to Hughes' new ways of working. He's an underrated midfielder who has shined for the most part this season with most moves coming via him in the engine room.

    In terms of line-up, I know we are carrying one or two injuries so anticipate the team being;

    Begovic
    Cameron Huth Shawcross Pieters
    N'Zonzi Wilson
    Pennant Adam Arnautovic
    Jones

Result wise I think it will be a 1-1 draw.

I'm at the incredibly disconnected mom-in-laws house again (hi Barry), so I'll be scrambling to find a decent stream . If not, I'll do GJ and the chat room. Perhaps our long national nightmare will be over shortly after this fixture.

Great turnout in the Chat, looked destined for a 0-0 final, but the Boateng substitution seemed to pick up the energy. Mo called Bent scoring well before it happened which made me think she put too much Bailey's in her coffee  , but thank goodness she was right :bow-yellow: Plenty of time for speculation about MJ (how relieved did he look?), but for now :banana-rock:

It was the lucky USA centennial shirt, the USA and Fulham are now unbeaten whenever I put it on. May its good vibes carry Fulham through this season.

But, seriously, that was an awful game until Riether, Bent, and Boateng turned things around towards the end of the game. Otherwise, that was a boring 0-0 draw and the boo birds would have been out for blood (and wouldn't be blaming them). Feels good to win at home again, so I will enjoy this feeling while it lasts.
