    Coleman eyes Gabbidon

Danny Gabbidon has been impressing Chris Coleman with his recent displays at the heart of the Wales backline.

The Cardiff City stopper was a regular for his country under Mark Hughes, and appeared again under new boss John Toshack in the 2-0 victory over Hungary on Wednesday.

Following previous Premiership interest in the shape of Hughes's new club Blackburn, Fulham boss Coleman has also now publicly declared his admiration for the player.

The 25-year-old was crowned Championship Player of the Month for January, and could make the step up to the top flight sooner rather than later.

"Danny played as a sweeper for Wales and was outstanding," said Coleman.

"He seems to play his best football for his country, and if he keeps improving I'm sure he will be in the Premiership soon."

The Cottagers have conceded an excessive 44 goals in the Premier League so far this season, and could turn to Gabbidon after being thwarted in their attempts to sign Manchester City's Ben Thatcher in January.
