BEFORE AVG 9 download

    Read this!!!!

    If you have a late model machine, you're probably okay. If like me, old OS and old machine, could be crawling death!

    Yes.. even ver 8 slowed my old dell down.

    Looks like I'll finally be trying Avast

    I've posted this before, but I don't think it'll hurt to do so again. AVG free version is very competent. I have been told by my fave computer nerd that PAYING for "the upgrade" will actually result in less protection and a significant slowing of your operating system.

    Don, I am talking about the Free version, only.

    I cant afford to buy AVG pro..I'm trying to figure out how to spring 25 bucks to upgrade my memory to 1 Gig, for that matter.

    From what I have read, your guy is correct on the Pro version slowing down the pc more. If your PC works good with the new version it is probably much newer than mine, with at least one Gig memory.
