For those who can stomach it, it's live on Setanta Sports Xtra Sunday at 10am and then re-aired at 1pm on Setanta.

I can see the lads rebounding and stomping on Wigan but who's even fit or eligible?

that's 1000 Eastern? Hmmm; I could catch most of the first half before church.

timmyg, Euro sendings off has no impact on league play. Everyone should be eligible, since I think Chicago has played off his 3-match ban. Kamara could be injured, but I think that Davies might be back. Murphy and AJ are doubtful, BUT EDDIE JOHNSON IS FIT!!!

Nevland can probably play, but Roy will need to tell him that once a player has beaten him is the WRONG time to put in a tackle. [I saw the replay, and it was AT LEAST a yellow, and a lot worse than the tackle on Dempsey in the Liverpool match]. But I digress.

The question is: Will we be dispirited after losing 5 points on dodgy referee's decisions against Roma, or will we be so pumped up that Wigan are in for an ass-kicking?

Thanks for getting the thread started.

Don. I agree that Nevlands tackle was a yellow but disagree about the comparison with the tackle on Dempsey. Had Dempsey not happened to jump, he could have suffered an Eduardo-level injury as Degen went completely through where his legs/ankles had been. Nevland just clipped the guy's ankles.

One thing I have been very impressed about this squad (a ton of credit to Roy for this), is the ability to turn the page and get on with the next task at hand. Wigan is the classic Jeykell/Hyde team and should come out flying with the perceived notion of playing a tired and deflated Fulham side. If we can get through the first half, I like our chances in the second.

Dio only playing a half last night makes me assume AJ is unavailable. Clint ran his a$$ off last night so I can't imagine him going the full 90. A Simon appearance perhaps?

I know Donny, I'm still trying to wrap my ahead around the fact that FULHAM FC will be without FOUR players in the next match and THREE for the rest of the group stages because of bookings. Fair Play indeed.

Oh goshdangit there's another boring international break after Sunday. What the hell...

A win is needed. We need to get off to a flying start for these next 6 games. We will dominate Wigan and get our first win at that shitty ground in the prem.

Wigan is dangerous like a schizophrenic. I think we are more dangerous and we can get them on the back foot.

How about a cheer for our GK

    HE'S QUICK! HE'S OLD
    HE STOPPED YOUR STRIKER COLD!

I think if we can get Duff back in the line up and leave dempsey up top, I give 3-1 to fulham with two goals from dempsey

I am scared we might have "one of those days" where nothing sneaks past the keeper and when it does it hits iron or finds the boot of a defender

All that aside I will predict 3-1 and remain hopeful that our boys find the net more than theirs

    starting lineups for today's match:

Wigan: Kirkland, Melchiot, Boyce, Bramble, Edman, N'Zogbia, Thomas, Scharner, Diame, Rodallega, Scotland.
Subs: Pollitt, Amaya, Cho, Gomez, Sinclair, Koumas, De Ridder.
Fulham: Schwarzer, Pantsil, Hangeland, Hughes, Konchesky, Dempsey, Baird, Greening, Duff, Zamora, Nevland.
Subs: Zuberbuhler, Kelly, Gera, Riise, Etuhu, Smalling, Dikgacoi.
    Referee: Phil Dowd (Staffordshire)

4 midfielders and 2 defenders on the bench -- no strikers. If this isn't an indication that Eddie's deat at Craven Cottage, I don't know what is.

Well we got an undeserved point, but that was because we played negative for much of the game. I thought this would be a good game for EJ as we were going on the counter a lot. His pace wouldve helped us and I'd rather have him out there instead of nevland because of his pace. Nevland is the better player but we needed somebody with pace and nevland isn't the guy.

I don't like this strategy, but the good thing is that Schwarzer probably loaded my fantasy team with points.

Rather disappointed with the result, I have to say. I listened to GJ, and he communicated that we got worked like a speed bag for most of the match. And yet we still took a point from a not bad team in their barn.

I don't think we will see EJ again in a white shirt -- he had his chance and blew it. No one said pro sports was forgiving.

I think I could tell why Woy covets Scharner so much -- he sounded like he had a great game.

Ugh. I'll just woirk to convince myself we were tired and could use the int'l break.

It was a great point only in that Wigan should've had all three but for the great Schwarzer. Whatever hiccups he had early this season, let's hope they're past now because he was incredible today. Good composure by Dempsey on the penalty as well. Wigan are the poor-person's Arsenal.

While unbeaten in league for over a month and on a good run, hopefully this break can get some players fit.

Schwarzwer was the definite MOM for Fulham but I thought Dempsey looked quite lively today too. When Fulham did get forward it was more times than not due to a good pass going forward from Clint.

I thought N'zogbia had a good match for Wigan. The shot from distance that Schwarzer tipped off the crossbar was incredibly well taken.

meh, fair result. both sides had many a chances.

The Aussie was out of this world, but Nevland had several opportunities early on. Then disappeared for the last 70 minutes.

    Another international break. Sigh.

Why start your closer? If he's only going to be good for 15-25 minutes, try and make it the LAST rather than the first.

I was saying the same thing at the bar where I watched the game with another Fulham fan. He seems to score a lot when he comes in about the 65th minute (not that Roy tends to sub that early.)

I know we lamented EJ's death already on this thread, but seriously where was he and/or Elm?

Oh, according to Elm's blog he and EJ were training on Saturday for monday's reserve game against Chelsea.

Really odd Roy didn't have a striker on the bench, but maybe thought it better they play 90 on monday against a good reserve opponent rather than 10 (if that) against a mediocre side?

AGAIN, A FULHAM BEAT REPORTER WOULD BE NICE!
