I have high hopes for this one. They've winless in 3 of their last 4 and were lucky as hell not to have lost against us. Still sore about Johnny Pantsil's luck on that one.

    Don't get stabbed!

And I see points for the Ws, even with a lineup similar to what Woy put out last time.

I really can't stand the Olimpico. It's a filthy stadium that's filled with fascists once every 2 weeks. I know Roma is the working class team, but I wanna beat them so bad where Lazio feels the beating.

    Come on you Cottagers!

The game will be on live in HD on DirecTV channel 462 (and I am guessing therefore in most soccer bars).

Metal underwear recommended, if you go!

I don't know about this one. Inhospitable surroundings, to say the least.

I think we're taking one in the shorts Thursday. We're probably going to be forced to play a hobbling Konchesky, since we need Baird for midfield and since Kelly is suspended. Tough match that I'd really like us to win, though.

    I think we lose 2-1.

Does anyone know if Duff will be playing on Thursday? I'm assuming he left the Liverpool game due to injury ...

    Here's to a win ... 2-1 w/ goals from Zamora and Demps ...

Not sure about Duff either, but it wasn't a tactical replacement. Dio tweaked his knee so he is a doubt also. No idea who will be available, but I bet every player is knocking on Roy's door and telling him they're a go. Let's see...playing on a European stage at Roma or at what arguably is the worst atmosphere in the Prem, Wigan. Tough choice.

I'm afraid we'll be bringing up the rear in this one. Butt, I guess you never know. Assk me tomorrow, and this soccer bum may change his mind.

I think Duff and Kamara are going to miss out; during Roy's postgame comments on Saturday, he said that our injury list had grown from four to six or seven, and those two seem the likely ones to have added to it.

I'm feeling more confident in Gera than I have in a while, and I think he can do a decent job in Duff's stead. Not sure about Nevland for 90 minutes, but I guess he's the next option with AJ and Kamara both out.

Duff is apparently not playing on Thursday.
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/footbal ... 336700.stm

The article is primarily about Duff's availability for the Ireland-France WCQ playoff, but contained this quote: "Hodgson added that Duff would play no part in Thursday's Europa League game in Rome. "

Just realized that the match is on at noon central insteat of 2. This means I actually get to watch it -- assuming there's a link. I'll try all the usual suspects.

You have better luck than I, I can't leave school until a little after 1500 or so. I should get home to watch the last half hour or so.

I was very pessimistic about this tie, but now I'm beginning to change my tune.

Oh, Steve; thanks for your most recent blog comment. There are times I think that you're my ONLY reader!
