Well, two interesting things happened on an extrement BORING trading dealine day.

    1. AS Roma hired Claudio Ranieri as their new boss. This may calm down their increasing disarray. The Tinkerman is, I believe, vastly underrated as a boss. I'm glad we're getting Roma early, but I think they're automatically a tougher opponent for us.

    2. CSKA Sophia ditched their "home grown players only" policy and signed three non-Bulgarian players today including a Brazilian named [and I swear I'm not making this up] Michel Platini. What kind of omen is THAT for a competitor in a UEFA competition.

With a name like CSKA Sofia I wasn't too concerned, but after reading this, I'm not so confident :?

"CSKA Sofia have shelved plans to build a squad made up entirely of home-based players after signing three overseas players, including Brazilian striker Michel Platini.

In June, CSKA said they would offload all the foreigners on their books but judging by their activity on the final day of the transfer window the idea has been forgotten.

Platini, namesake of the UEFA president, was one of the Bulgarian league's revelations last season, scoring a series of spectacular goals for Chernomorets Burgas. He joins on a contract running until June 30, 2012.

CSKA also signed Paraguayan defender Hugo Baez, 26, and his midfield compatriot Jonathan Gomez, 24, after successful trials.

The Reds, who face Fulham in the Europa League group stage, are top of the league after winning their first four league matches without conceding a goal."

The Petrovs? Would figure playing in the Prem would mean they have to be at least "decent".

On my own Socal, if I went on the charter I might as well work (like I did in Vilnius).
