just a niggler: I thought that was SOP everywhere. Is at Crew games.

Of course I make a habit of being late. Maybe it's a first for you.

Well, the annoying thing was that it hadn't started yet and I wanted to be in my seat so I could sing the anthem with the rest of the fans.

To be completely honest, I just sat back and laughed. It was almost too painful to take it seriously. I mean we all saw that we were just horrific with every touch in the second half for the most part. (First 5-10 minutes excluded)

If this were the "A-Team" then it would have major implications, but it wasn't so it doesn't. Mexico has a few stars in the making. If the US doesn't settle themselves and get motivated for WC qualifying Mexico could reclaim the CONCACAF.

I do have to say, the thought crossed my mind. Every now and then I enjoy pettyfog's somewhat paranoid conspiracies.

In all honesty, I don't recall, do we take 3 Keepers?? Something tells me yes.

Not only dont I recall, I have never known and have asked the question about 3 keepers. Regardless though, I would take Perkins over Guzan. Of course if Hahnemann or Freidel are in the competition I would take either (and I would take the latter over Howard)

We will have three keepers on 23 man World Cup roster, but I don't think we will have three in Mexico.

I am having trouble getting over this result. There are several things about it that bother me.

The biggest is the crowd being 75% or more Mexican fans. I know this is nothing new but it was in NJ, not Southern Cal. It makes me so disgusted everytime I think about it. We have to grow Sam's army. Thankfully, Nmancini was there and seems to be interested in seeing more international matches.

In two finals in a row, with two separate teams of players, we have been shredded to pieces in the second half. Yes by better opposition, but any US team should be able to hold their ground to the point that no more than two goals are scored in less than 45 minutes.

The officiating. I hate to complain about this but we get screwed in almost every important game. It is just another thing to worry about at the moment.

You can say this 5-0 loss means nothing but apparently it does to Mexico and that might be all that matters- their state of mind. Their high altitude stadium for the WC qualifier is sold out to it's 105,000 capacity. I hope the boys in RW&B are mad becaue they will need it. The sell out would have happened anyway, but still I'm worried about the 12th.

Acguirre shouldnt have even been allowed to coach the rest of the tourny after kicking that CR player. That totally blows - that a scum like that is allowed to stick around and crush us 5-0.

As you can see, I need some counseling.

Help me Jesus! Help me Jewish God! Help me Allah! AAAAAHHH! Help me Tom Cruise! Tom Cruise, use your witchcraft on me to get the fire off me!"

Psst ... except for the Sciene Fiction writer, it's all the same god, Mo.

The only thing that pisses me off is that some of our players lost their cool -- Heap and Ching committed some ugly fouls in the last 5 minutes. I had hoped we'd gotten over that phase. I didn't think the Mexicans played dirty or dived very much, and I didn't think the ref was one-sided or even poor. He got a couple things wrong, but so did everyone else.

We flat ran out of gas, and Aguirre exploited our lack of quality depth. They have found a young, smart strike pair, and they ripped us apart.

    Match is over, Ms. Maureen.

Look! On Thursday!!! Fulham are in Lithuania in a Europa Cup tie! Ooooooooooo, sparklies!!!

    [didn't help, huh?]

I am still speechless. I tried watching the match again to analyze the players performance but I just couldn't manage it. So here is my match analysis. The US created the better opportunities in the first half but never really came close to scoring. Mexico overwhelmingly controlled the second half and we are lucky it was only 5-0. The US came apart at the seams but now it is thankfully long over. NEXT!

Mo. As far as Sam's Army goes, it came down to WHO was playing. I traveled to Columbus (from Baltimore), driving all night long after the game to come home, but that was to watch the A team face Mexico's A team.

I went to the group stage game against Honduras, but while I could have made the quarter final in Philly and the final in New York (and arguably the Semis in Chicago), I wasn't going to spend that much money, and sacrifice that much time, to go see a B/C squad play.

Its the harsh realities of why MLS doesn't get more than 15k fans per game - the quality of the product on the field. I'll travel all day and spend hundreds of dollars to see our A team play, both to support them and because I feel I'm getting good value for my money. But spending over $100 and giving up an entire day to see Logan Pause and Kyle Beckerman play? Not gonna happen.

Again - Seattle is busting the 'rules.' 30k+ each MLS match - at the Chelski match there were 62k+ and with that crowd you would not be talking a majority of Mexico supporters.

Bring a US v Mexico match to Seattle and organize ticket sales - I think you will see something.

I agree as to the team sheet tho... I would have a hard time laying down a huge chunk of coin to see that match. I didnt even go to the 4th of July match here in Seattle for the same reason. It wasnt the ticket price or even the date - it was the fact that I would be jetting off on a holiday to see a team that I wouldnt have my camera out for.

Anyway - getting away from the bottom line... Bring in the first team and lets stick it to em!

    I counsel patience.

At the least, until after the Azteca match.

    Bullflop happens.

Thank you 'fog - some counseling. I am trying to be patient. I have also decided not to drink any Mexican beer until after August 12th. While I enjoy Dos Equis and know the Mexicans are quite skilled - at beer making, I plan to line my fridge with every kick-ass, revenge seeking American beer there is. I am also taking off work the entire week of the Azteca game.

And Don about the "same God"; it was a quote that I used to describe my irrational state of mind. I must say I'm a little disappointed no one picked up on it.
