How's everyone managing? I hope you are safe.

So far we are into our fifth straight day of continuous rain (Sandy pushed two days of rain straight back over us). The kids are home from school, Halloween is postponed (who does that?), lost two huge 80 year old trees in my backyard but luckily they did not fall on my house, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was damaged from 60 mile an hour wind gusts. I'm just tired of the rain.

Atlantic City's boardwalk, the priciest property in Monopoly, was destroyed. I guess Sandy is a historic storm

Lost power for about 18 hours and that was about it for our location, so we were very fortunate. Looks like it could have been a lot worse after watching the news for the past few hours. Wow.

We had minimal damage (a decorative sign that had been poorly screwed to the outside wall came off, but at least landed on the terrace; the old carpeting on the terrace needs cleaning or replacement), and we never lost power. MUCH better than Irene, where I got flooded in my old apartment. Of course, the bars across the street never closed, and the funniest was seeing guys go out in the storm for a smoke. Gotta love nicotine addiction.

No damage or loss of power here in Northern VA. Fully prepared for it though. Thoughts and prayers go out to all those in NY, NJ, and elsewhere that saw all the damage.

Good to know no major incidents among the FUSA faithful!

Gee, seems like only yesterday, we were ragging about Katrina and N'awlins! Good to know, unlike Katrina and Hurricane Andrew, FEMA is under new leadership and reacting quickly due to their War Room and quick reaction force. Says so on their site. They put out for Bids for water on Friday and should start distributing water Monday. Maybe other emergency supplies next week, too?
