Exactly what Tom said. The money would have been nice, but the lads need to concentrate on getting points right off the bat this year so we don't have to worry about going down again.

Whether good or bad, City should've lost the spot based on this tidbit from the BBC:

"City will not be able to host the first qualifying round tie at Eastlands as the pitch is due to be relaid once a Bon Jovi concert has taken place on 22 June."

That's it there's their other red card! Unsportsmanlike conduct for making people listen to hideous stadium rock from the 80s.

I finally saw the footage of the riots in Manchester after (and during) the UEFA finals. What a shame. I am not sure if there was another thread related to this.

    We are such good people!

Even though we just missed out on Europe, according to the league, Fulham fans are #1. Here's the press release from the Fulham official site:

    --------------------------------------------

Fulham Football Club has narrowly missed out to Manchester City on a UEFA cup place next season via the Fair Play league.

However, the Club is delighted to inform its supporters that Fulham fans topped the Premier League’s Behaviour of the Public Fair Play Table and as a result the Club will be awarded £20,000 for a good cause initiative which will benefit the supporters.

The table, compiled from marks awarded by The Premier League Match Delegates for verbal support in acceptable form and recognition of outstanding play by opponents, shows Fulham supporters in first place with a total of 319 points.

The Club would like to thank its fans for their exemplary behaviour not just for this season, which has been recognised by this award, but over many years.

    ---------------------------------

Note that it might not be far geographically to our nearest rivals, but it's a long way in the Fair Play Table. I know this will SHOCK a lot of you, but the "fans" of a certain team in drab blue brought up the rear in the standings. A class organization, to be sure...

Does anybody have an idea how the 20K could best be spent to benefit the supporters?

Glad we didn't get the UEFA Cup spot. Would have been undeserved and bad for the team. Looking forward to Fulham getting started in July just like everybody else.

... and yay to the fact that Fulham's fans are the nicest group in England. Can't stand the numbskulls at all the other clubs... like that fat tatooed bastard from Chelsea who berated Roman Abramovich at the Fulham game in the fall. DISGUSTING lot those Chelsea fans!!!

How awesome would it have been if Fulham had qualified for Europe and had to play an Icelandic team?
