Eh, from what I remember, some of the biggest EJ bashers have always been Americans, and there were quite a few English fans who didn't know anything about him that were excited about the signing.

I think the comebacks were all relating to Han-Solo's comment, not your post. It was a fair question on your part. Sorry if we gave the wrong impression, pard.

    1. Which post? And which reply are you referring to?

    2. There are few pure questions on a messageboard. think of this as happy hour in the pub. Questions imply a statement in either indirect or supporting way.
Just as statements may imply the question.

    Thank you.. carry on.

    fulhamlocal,

I'll echo HatterDon and let you know that I was responding to Solo's comment.

Nationality doesn't matter to me when it comes to Fulham. I'd be just as optimistic with an English, Italian or Argentine national holding similar promise to EJ wearing a Fulham shirt. What is best for Fulham comes first. If Johnson doesn't reach his potential, then there is no use keeping him at Craven Cottage.

He may wear the red, white, and blue during CONCACAF and World Cup matches. But if he isn't getting the deal done for Fulham at some point during his contract, then I'll be one of those who'll be ready for him to move on.

Sorry to bring back an old post but I was just reading EJ getting BASHED on the FFC messageboard. They have no love for Eddie. I think it is way too early to tell. As far as Nationality goes, I dont cheer harder because they are Americans, they have to prove that they belong on this level (something Landon couldn't do) but I do really enjoy wantching Americans succeed in Europe.

He needs another year. Honestly, we know what he can do. He just needs to get acclimated to the league and be given a chance. He shouldn't have set foot on the field this season, although he had that one beauty off the crossbar . . I forgot which match.

I think that Eddie will feature for us some time during the next season. He's got speed and strength and he knows how to play. He just has to adopt to Roy's system and get his mental shit together.

Pettyfog and I used to jerk our old knees every time someone would mention getting EJ over here. There were automatic comparisons to Collins John and Jeff Cunningham. But Roy saw something promising there, and if anyone is the guy to make something of EJ, Roy's the boy. Think of a fully squared away Johnson partnering a healthy Erik Nevland with plenty of well-weighted through balls from midfield. I think Roy has this in mind. May not be in August, but we'll see it before it's all over. That's my view, anyhow.

at the moment, I don't have confidence that EJ will be an important piece for us. If he is, I'll be as excited as anyone, but I really don't see it.

I think his best career route should have been to Derby early in the year, get smacked around since we know the a striker's 1st year in the PL is a wash anyway, then dominate the CCC next year. After that, he would be more than ready, and would have gotten a nice offer from a mid-table side.

But he's with us now, and I'm hoping for a major transformation, but don't think it will happen.

Last time I checked the official site's message board, I counted more misspelled words than correctly spelled words. I wouldn't put too much stock in what they say.

And for some reason, there always seems to be a Freddy Adu thread on the first page. I have no clue why that is.

Adu is easy to spell.
Speaking of spelling, I particularly love the handles that show an individual's allegiance to a past Fulham player, whom they love so much they can't spell his friggin name right!

    1. Government Schools, recognition reading.

    2. We will see, I think in some article over the summer, if EJ's long psychological makeover can be completed. He recognizes the problem, I'm sure, but the Ego fights. One thing to see your own faults, another to address them in balance.

I have noticed the frequent Adu posts there. Weird. I think its the same guy over and over just getting a rise out of everyone. Its pretty funny. The Adu posts seem to drive them crazy.

Yeah... that's a real possibility. IMO, the old pun 'Much Adu about little' suits me. Both ways.
