eff...it's on tape delay. seems like the only matches live are the chelsea and man united matches.

any ideas guys? can we all hold off on peeking at the result so we can get out to see the match fresh? anybody? anybody?

i know i can, but this will suck if someone sees it and shows up and spoils it.

i'll be there, whatever. who else?

I don't think I'm going to be able to pull that off. Hopefully I'll be able to push for Mother's Day brunch to be late enough that I can listen to the game online beforehand.

Like I said yesterday though - we're going out drinking Sunday night if we have something to celebrate.

Damn it!! Of all the matches to be on tape delay.

We'll see. I'm not sure I can hold off.

I'll be there. And my way of not spoiling myself? Sleeping in and not going in until 12 PM exactly. My fear is that Setanta Sports on TV will spoil it, not anyone else.

    I'll be there.

I'll even be dragging my mate Ken, as we were supposed to go to the Mets' game, but shall be watching Fulham, instead.

People: show up! This could be the last you'll see of Fulham for a while. If not, it will be great for the last match of the season. Hell, Mother's Day is not an excuse!! You ever heard of taking her out to DINNER?!? I'm not even talking to my mother, just to make SURE I don't have to see her on Sunday!!! If you can't wait to find out the score, then I wonder how you ever made it through Christmas without ransacking your home, seeking out all your presents beforehand!! If you HAVE to find out the score before, don't let on!! There are some of us for whom not turning on a computer is easy, and I, for one, will be watching without knowing the final score.

Another good crowd will make losing easier and winning even sweeter.

I think it's really optimistic to think that no one will spoil the result. Some asshole poured a beer over someone last week, and it's a whole lot easier to just yell out a few results at a crowded bar.

I would say that the way to go is to just follow it as much as possible while live, and then view the screening afterward as either a celebration or some sort of eulogy to the season.

Well, having watched tons of matches at Nevadas, I can't proudly say that's the first time I've ever seen anything like that happen.

And the good thing is that there's only one other match being shown at the same time, which is also a tape delay match. So those fans will be in the same boat as us and probably would be avoiding results (or even if they didn't, it's Liverpool v. Spurs and neither of them would have a real reason to antagonize us).

The only worry would be Portsmouth fans knowing the result and taunting us that we'd already lost, but frankly, I don't think I've ever seen a Portsmouth fan there.

So I say we should avoid the result and go in there with a clear mind. This could be the last time we EVER watch a Fulham match in the U.S. And if one person knows the result, everyone else will know it by his demeanor.

By the way, the column on the left side of the FulhamUSA page says that the match will be live on Setanta Xtra, but Nevada's website still says it'll only be shown on tape delay. Geoff, you seem to have a good relationship with the guys over there...any strings you can pull to get it shown live?

For what it's worth, we've watched Setanta Xtra games at Nevada's before (though I can't remember which off the top of my head). There are only three channels that show EPL matches live (FSC, Setanta, Setanta Xtra) and there are definitely usually three EPL matches showing on Saturdays at 10 (one downstairs and two upstairs). I think we're in luck.

    Hi Y'all,
I don't generally post here so you don't know me. But I have been a Brian McBride fan for over a decade and I'll be at Nevada Smiths. My mom would probably come with me if she lived in New York. I look forward to meeting you and hopefully celebrating a win.

And welcome Andrea, we're always happy to have another Fulham fan.

Awesome. Mothers Day brunch is set up in Hoboken at 1:00, meaning 10:00 to noon is clear for the last match of the season.

I'm going to miss all you crazy kids over the summer.

But hopefully we'll have matches to watch in the fall! 8)

Ok, so this means that the only screen will be the one in the middle of the bar and there will be no sound. No prob. If it's a win, we can always watch the replay.

This means there's no pissing about whether to check the score beforehand.

Even a Mother's Day brunch can be gotten to easily, as jmh has already shown us.

If you think it's too early on a Sunday, just realize that you have all off-season to rest AND that this may be it for a while longer than that.

I realize that there won't be as big a crowd as the Chelski or MU fans, but the last match of the season (and an important one, at that!) should get everyone up and out.

    FTID!!!!

Morning guys. I have been to Nevada Smiths several times to watch games. I am 30 years old and I live in Staten Island, I have been watching sports for the better part of 18 years. Yet, I cant imagine a bigger game than the one that is going to take place on Sunday morning. Its great to see there are more guys like me out there and Im not alone. I look forward to seeing all of you guys and celebrating our spot in the premier league next season.

    Food?

It's my understanding that you can bring in food. Anyone know if that is true?

Yay for Live. :D See you at 10 am.

    RE: Food?

I've never had a problem with food at Nevada's but they do occasionally make a fuss over bringing in drinks. If you've got something in a sealed container (bottled or canned drink), you might be better off putting it in a bag, but food you should be fine.
