This subject title was used earlier, but now it works officially.

Guiliani put all his eggs in the Florida basket and, yesterday, they got scrambled. Today, he dropped out of the race. This was the only single-issue candidate running, and by far the one least qualified for the office. The overall level of debate and content should improve significantly.

Let's see, we've got Hillary, Obama, McCain, Romney, and RP still active. Is there anyone I've missed? Seriously, I'm not sure.

I'm glad people are smart enough to sift through the 9/11 BS and finally get down to the future of our country... seriously.

I still dont like the choices. I'd personally only vote for 2 of those candidates.

    presidential quiz

Here is a quiz that you can take to see which presidential candidate has views most like yours. It's sort of a guide to indicate who you should vote for.

    http://www.wqad.com/Global/link.asp?L=259460

My answers were most in line with Hillary and Obama. The funny thing is that until a year ago I said that I wouldnt vote for Hillary if she was the last person on earth.

It cant be that accurate because most questions did not have an answer that reflected my view, but it's still worth a go.

    RE: presidential quiz

Obama is going to beat McCain. Not a real good year for republican candidates, and two legitimate contenders for the Dems.
Rudy was a few years too late...

    Re: RE: presidential quiz

Hey, Shinerbockguy, I love Shiner Bock. I can now get it up in Cleveland at my local store around the corner. Are you from Texas?

Obama and McCain are decent choices compared to the last two elections. Hillary has a sleaze factor for me but she also comes with a good degree proven competence (i.e. her first two terms with Bill).

I agree - both on the beer and better choices this election season.
(Though admittedly, anybody looks like a better choice than the current jobholder...)
I'm from Texas, but live now in Arizona.
Good to hear you can get Shiner Bock up there. It's my "old faithful" beer, and goes well in any situation.

SERIOUSLY.. if Breck Girl wasnt 'single issue' and less qualified for office than ANYONE else, I dont know who is.

As usual... your Dem bias hangs down to your knees. Said affectionately, of course.

Nice photoshopping my quote ... AGAIN ... and, Mr. "No Flaming or Button Pushing," who is "Breck Girl?" Hillary? She is single-issued? Hmmm.

Look, be a little egalitarian here: go back to the MB category and get rid of that "no flaming or button pushing" qualification, since it obviously doesn't apply to you.

Gotta agree with Don on this one, 'fog - you're definitely crossing the "button pushing" line...with BOTH feet, I might add.

pettyfox, the benevolent dictator, at least in his own mind. I agree it is probably time to let that "no flaming" tag go the way of the dodo bird.

Interesting quiz. According to my choices, Obama nudges Clinton just barely, even though they scored the same. Of the remaining candidates, Gravel (if he is really still a candidate), then Paul (ditto), then Capt. Plastic, then McCain, and the Huckster rounds it out with him and I agreeing on one issue, Social Security.

Of course, I may have to check back to see if Mitt has changed his positions on many of the issues next week.

    Aha! I forgot Hucklebuck!

The quote from my original post was: "Is there anyone I've missed? Seriously, I'm not sure."

    Thanks PCB.

Well, I was on my way elsewhere and left this half-answered.

Edwards Qualifications: US Senate, clear understanding of the job and its issues

Rudy's qualifications: Mayor of NYC; 9-11

    Edwards Issues:

    1. The skyrocketing income disparity in the US between corporate bosses and their workers.
    2. The millions of Americans without health insurance, including a huge number of workers and their families.
    3. The disgraceful treatment of America's veterans, from denying PTSD sufferers care at VA hospitals to the increasing percentage of homeless people who are war veterans.
    4. Rolling back the tax-cuts for the wealthy and the corporate incentives to oil industries as a way of combating the crippling deficit and the crumbling economy.
    5. Getting us out of the Iraq war as soon as possible as a means to saving lives, saving the economy, while simultaneously eliminating the huge recruitment tool for terrorists that this war has become.
    6. Returning the Executive Branch to the rule of law -- specifically the Justice Department -- and making the White House more open.

    Rudy's issues:

    1. 9-11
    2. 9-11
    3. 9-11
    4. 9-11
    5. 9-11
    6. 9-11

Yep; I see what you mean. Edwards really is less substantial and had much of a platform than Rudy.

And that Breck Girl thing really is very cute. Since it tangentially brings up the old "Edwards is gay" slur and tries to diminish him by calling him -- gosh! -- a woman, I can only guess you learned it from Ann "Seig-Heil Barbie" Coulter!

FYI: the quiz is slanted toward Obama; interesting "campaign tool", though.

I was wondering about that myself but how do you know? It would actually be a smart tool because some people would probably vote according to the quiz results without bothering to check.

About 30 of us took the quiz at work. Obama was the #1 candidate on 24 of them.

Given it originates from the media ( a local news station) I wouldnt be surprised if it just has a Democrat bias. My results showed Obama & Hillary tying for 1st, which is possible since I consider myself in the middle of the two parties on the issues, with McCain coming in second. The dead giveaway of the bias is Kucinich showing up as my 3rd/4th choice. That's some sort of cruel joke.
