Yes, I actually saw it last week, since with comcast they put the episode on demand a week early. I was very shocked. I thought that something like that might happen, but i didn't think it would be this early in the season. It sucks that this is the last season.

about 25 minutes to go, I turned to the missus and said, "this isn't going to be a good night for Prop Joe."

I've already been surprised by Avon's return, and I'm not really sure where we're going, but I'm staying with the ride. This is seriously brilliant television, and I'm going to miss it. I'm also going to make it my first -- and perhaps only ever -- DVD all episodes purchase when it comes out.

    Stunning.

I got hooked on "heroes" over Christmas when at my kid's house.
Every spare moment I slapped in the DVD and watched another episode.
But after some reflection and time/space, I feel USED!

    I never liked being 'captured'.

Which is why, after reading some comments on the show, I avoided ever watching '24'.

And after getting a little hooked on 'The Riches' I avoided finding out about the second season.

we should turn this thread into like "the weekly water cooler" or something like that.

so, your thoughts on the episode? Omar's plan going awry threw a monkey wrench into things. And no Co-Op reaction yet? Next week is going to be explosive. Watch out for Slim.

Just watched last night's episode via DVR at lunchtime. Man, is Omar "the dark knight" or what. Screw Batman, Omar has a strict code -- probably the only honest straight-up person in the entire series.

Last season when the security guard at the grocery store confronted Marlo -- respectfully -- and Marlo had him killed anyhow, I knew the man's mind was all wrong. So far, the only one with the cojones to take him down is Omar, but he's losing his LTs by the minute.

Resisted the temptation to watch next Sunday's episode while i was there, although we did watch the 2-minute specials on Omar and Prop Joe as kids and McNulty's first night as Bunk's partner.

Riveting stuff and, without a doubt, the first "buy the entire series on DVD" offer I'll ever take up.

Some critics have called The Wire the finest series in the history of television. It's on HBO and this is its last season. You can catch it every Sunday evening, but you might want to go into HBO on demand and see if you can go waaaaaaay back to where the series started and pick it up from there.

Well, The Wire is history. Our new pastor was being "installed" this evening, so I didn't get into the 90+ minute finale until it was almost over. I LOVE DVR!!!!

The smartest individual over the run of the series was indeed Lester. Smarter than all the cops and lawyers and crooks combined. Glad to see that he kept his ass intact.

The most honorable character -- Omar, the homosexual murderer and hijacker of drug dealer's money -- bought it at the hands of a 10 or 12 year old baby gangster in the previous episode. I almost cheered outloud when cheese got whacked. What a waste of a human being [and a great performance by Method Man]. And Marlo can't handle getting off scot free with millions of bucks and has to go down to a corner to convince people he aint the punk he really is.

Valchek winds up as Bawmer Police Commish? Carcetti is Maryland Governor? The asshole fabricator gets the Pulitzer? It ain't justice, but it's the way the world works. And thanks, David Simon, for letting Bubbles have a family and a chance at a happy ending at last.

There will never be a series as engrossing, as true, and as seductive as this one. When "the entire series" becomes available via DVD, this little black duck is getting a home improvement loan in order to finance it.

timmyg, I know you're pissed 'cause Simon shat on The Sun, but you have to be mourning the end of this series about Charm City.

And, finally, my favorite quote of the entire series: "I'm just a humble man with a big dick" -- The Bunk

When the credits hit and the chilling soundtrack ran, I got that feeling that I got after every episode after season 4: the type of feeling where you need twenty minutes to yourself to take everything in. Gotta say it was a long time coming.

And so concludes the best show on TV. Gotta say I'm pretty satisfied with it. Cheese and Snoop went. Partlow in prison. Marlo back to being a corner boy. Slim getting his day and bringing some semblance of 'code' back to the streets. Chris becomes Omar. Dukie becoming Bubbles, as Bubbles becomes human.

Although there are two things I really didn't like:

About half of the episode was devoted to the newspaper conclusion, and it totally fizzled. And that punk got an award, when we all know that fabricators get caught (e.g. Glass, Blair, et al). My biggest complaint about that whole story line was that it just wasn't connected to the streets. Like you take the docks and the Greek out of the show, and the drugs just mysteriously arrive. You take the newspaper out of it, nothing much is different.

And Daniels being commish for like 30 seconds was also kinda weak. His appointing has been building up for 2 seasons, and he goes like that? C'mon. Either its because the episodes got cut or Simon got lazy. I really hope its the former.

All in all I'm going to miss it. And expect some written material about the show and the little club from SW6 we all support.

I watched every episode for 4 years, and now I'm in mourning that it's gone. Never ever has a TV show been written, directed and acted in such a "real" way. You could feel the street 'vibe', and nothing was ever held back. I loved it when Mike popped the world's first female? thug. The way McNulty and Lester kept going after the "real" bad guys, in spite of their bosses, was great TV. It would have ended great for me if that kid on the corner, at the end, hadn't missed Marlo. So long Balmer.............When you walk thru the garden, better watch your back.........Best theme song ever.....gotta keep the devil, way down in a hole.......

My favorite is "The game is rigged, but you cannot lose if you do not play". Man that is great.

Never heard of this show, but I'm sure I wouldnt be able to watch something with F bombs every other word.

You really should invest in it. Worth it.

And the clip sadly didn't have my favorite quote:

"It's a cold world, Bodie," (Poot)
"Thought you said it was getting warmer," (Bodie)
"The world goin' one way, people another," (Poot)

I wish I could claim the credit but it was passed on to me.

'Shit bird' quotes deserve more prominence. I'm still looking for the perfect opportunity to call someone a shit bird in real life. Also Carcetti's deputy definitely(whatever his name was) deserves some face time because he had some beauties. Truth be told the video could have been a half hour long and still missed a few.

I've been slowly working though Generation Kill. Also an all around awesome David Simon series with crazy sick dialogue!

Everytime we see that actor who played Maryland's most eloquent state senator on television, one of us is bound to say "shhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyuut."

Can't believe my favorite quote didn't make the top 100, though: "I'm just a humble man with a big dick." -- The Bunk

A buddy of mine was watching this show on dvd and highly recommended it. Unfortunately, HBO o.d. doesn't have any episodes anymore. So Don, ol' neighbor....did you ever buy it on dvd?

If not, still sounds like it'd be worth my springing for a season to try it out.
