When I heard the news I had to double check the source. It sounded more like my FIFA 2008 game than reality. I believe E. Johnson will bring the cottagers some much need goals. :D

    Opinions?

It will be a step up in class and intensity. Very few strikers come and make real impacts on the PL in their first season. I don't know enough about this guy to comment, but I would be surprised if he sets the world alight this season - but I hope so!

Even if he was the greatest player in history he would still be saddled with an underperforming Fulham team.

smokyn21, I like your avatar because that has been the problem with EJ. He doesnt seem to leave it all out on the field. He's my least favorite of all the major American players. The only thing that I've seen to recommend him to the EPL is his speed and size (barely though). I've not seen EPL level skills or the abililty to be effective when physically challenged.

I do hope I'm wrong though as Fulham needs a boost, but I cant imagine EJ making an impact.

However, Roy should know what he is doing and Dempsey should be helpful in helping Eddie adjust.

That was an interesting video, but sometimes his stuttering while he thinks of something to say can be painful.

None the less it is an exciting move and only makes me that much more excited for Fulham.

My optimism was probably a little to over the top early in the morning. I am still hoping he can make an impact early by playing well as a substitute. Having all of the other Americans, including his best friend, on the squad is probably why he signed. That should help him adjust as quickly as possible. As for his size and speed to play in the EPL, he seems to understa that it is going to be an uphill battle to play as strong as he needs to at this level.

I like Eddie, but he seems to get upset if things don't go great early on, and he kind of vanishes. I was at his second cap for the US against Panama in Washington DC, where he came off the bench and scored a hat trick in like 20 minutes. He has great talent but that game was like 6 years ago and he really hasn't gotten any better since then. He lacks confidence and that is what holds him back. His talent is not the issue. I am hoping he can step it up and prove me wrong. We really need it to stay up this year.

I think that before EJ can perform in the EPL with consistency he needs to sort out the mental side of his game. Whether it be a lack of confidence, general attitude, or anything else, he seems to go away for long stretches in matches and seasons. I think that he does have the talent to give Fulham a boost and bringing a fresh face in can't hurt.

When you play in the league like the MLS, it can be hard to focus, the move to the Prem will motivate him and if he doesn't play to his potential here he never will.

EJ is well aware that he's had 'head problems'
That's why I'm neutral on him rather than against his recruitment.
