While I haven't been a fan long, only for two seasons now, it seems to me that for some reason we play horribly on the road. Is the "home field advantage" that huge in the EPL??? I would love to see some points from this weekends game so that we can keep from digging that huge hole in the beginning of the season that keeps us at the bottom of the table all season...

    c-in-m,

The home field advantage is HUGE. But there are ways around it. Home teams will attack like crazy in the first 10 minutes of each half to keep their fans wound up. If you can keep a clean sheet during those two periods, you're well on your way. Also, keeping your attention during the last 5 minutes of the match helps. We lost a ton of points last year in the last 5 minutes, but we also scored a lot of equalizing goals during that period.

We have been crap on the road in past years because we've been going all out for a draw in almost every match. I liked our form against Arsenal, and if we keep that "I'm here to kick your ass all day long" attitude, we'll pick up a 4-6 away wins this season.

Still think we're in for a pummeling in the morning, but I'll be with GJ and in the chatroom. Hope to see you there.

No...Villa is no Man City, but I can tell you they took their pre-Season VERY seriously and I think it's shown in their previous matches.

They will not be fooled by anyone and it's going to be an uphill for us.

Villa Park is not normally a happy hunting ground for us in the prem, we have taken 2 points in 6 games.

    2006/2007 Aston Villa 1-1 Fulham
    2005/2006 Aston Villa 0-0 Fulham
    2004/2005 Aston Villa 2-0 Fulham
    2003/2004 Aston Villa 3-0 Fulham
    2002/2003 Aston Villa 3-1 Fulham
    2001/2002 Aston Villa 2-0 Fulham

However, I think we are going to have a turn around in form and pull one out of the bag. I think Collins John will score from the bench and show a new attitue... and when I wake up, I still think we are going to win.

    1-3 Healy, Knight and John.

    COYW.

Villa's weak point is their Rightback

Villa has a very potent offensive. Lots of good attackers with speed, plus Carew with heading and holding ability.

Their one weak spot looks like their rightback. Gary Cahill isn't quality. So it is unfortunate Bouazza is out now, because I bet he could have caused some problems down the left side. Maybe Dempsey can work some magic there if he starts on the leftside tomorrow.

Their defense overall is not that great I think... so maybe if we can keep their offense in check early on, and score an early goal we'll have a chance at some points.

On the bright side, those 2 points have come in the last 2 seasons.

Does anyone know if Setant Xtra is a part of the Setanta package on Directv or do you have to pay for all matches shown on the Xtra channel?

Any help is appreciated. Hoping to watch the match at 10:00AM instead of the delayed broadcast at 4:30 PM.

I have no idea, but if you get Setanta broadband they're showing it live on their broadband channel two... which is the setanta extra tv broadcast.

If you have DirecTV and you are a Setanta subscriber, Setanta Xtra is FREE. Check channel 670 T_O_M.

i'm pumped to wait until 4:30 tomorrow to watch this!
(sorry, i just gotta keep telling myself that)

ANYWAYS, i think it'll be a 1-1 draw. ls will have the squad rebounded from last week's apocalypse. aston villa remind me of the bmore ravens - look scary, but never impress.

i just hope i dont eat crow.

I'd love to see how we react with the lineup changes, but I'll be on the road all day. I'm going with the same lineup as nmancini04 and see it
(1-1). Don't think we're quite ready for that 1st road victory....but I hope they prove me wrong.

    Warner
    Baird Zat Boca Kon
    Davies Davis Smertin Dempsey
    Kamara Healy

Yeah I am a bit surpised that he is starting already, but I guess with a big misstake in each of the last two games by Warner, it may be the right move. Who would have thought ,with McBride getting injured, there would be 3 Americans in the starting lineup the following week.
