I agree he should have have put the cross in the net but he did create other chances in the game. Not only was he involved in the goal that was not allowed I believe he also he had a flick to Healy earlier in the game that was stopped by the keeper's face.

I know highlights can be decieving but it sure looked like Dempsey was in position to make things happen.

Anelka would never join us. Most expensive Fulham signing was Steve Marlet for 11.5 million pounds. Good value!

    I knew it!
I've been thinking that about Marlet every time I've heard the 'most expensive' tag being put on Kamara. Think Paul Walsh said it during the commentary of the Bolton game as well.
Was meaning to look it up so thanks for saving me a little work andyns.

I tend to agree. Dempsey's header to Healy was excellent and Healy should have put it to the his left instead of putting it right at him. Poor finishing on Healy's part actually.

Dempsey's howler wasn't so bad because if he had kicked it straight Jussi may have blocked it. Maybe should have chipped it in then. It is forgiveable I think.

Anelka is a nut case, I don't want nutcases.

Sanchez doesn't want his fullbacks going forward. That's why he brought in Baird and Konchesky. They are stay at home fullbacks. I think this was wise on Sanchez's part. Fulham needs to defend before attacking because we just aren't a quality offensive side.

This is why Liam probably won't play until after the transfer window is closed (he's not a stay at home fullback), if he's still even on the team.

Right now they are looking to sell Liam. Volz won't figure into the starting eleven and will be backup since he's an inferior defender to Baird. You have to remember that Baird is going against the best in the world and will be beaten from time to time. There is no reason, in my mind, that he should be taken out of the starting 11 at all, unless he's hurt or seriously fatigued.

i may have been under a rock, but you sure you're not thinking of diouf? because he's a nutbar.

and i should clarify. by anelka i met someone of his class and situation: a quality striker on a team going nowhere/he wants to leave. like van der vaart at hsv (albeit someone cheaper). i'm sure we can all come up with someone feasible and logical.

I totally agree that Dempsey's pace and play has been quite good. I especially like how LS uses him as a spark of the bench. But You guys watch the games too. USMNT or Fulham, he constantly drills the ball directly at the keeper or misses the net entirely. All I'm saying is he needs to start finishing more.

    Saturdays game

Fox Sports reported just after their live game that the Fulham score was 2 - 2, someone must have been watching the game on a live feed or something, saw the ball went over the line and reported 2 - 2!!!!!!!!!!

It is inconceivable that in a league that generates the revenue that the premier league does there could not be any way of installing goal line technology, decisons like the penalty for Chelsea will always be given because that is a judgement call by the ref at that very moment, but when the ball goes over the line the play is dead.

Incidents like the Fulham one on Saturday the play could have been stopped within minutes and not held the game up, and that point could well be crucial in the coming season.

As for the game its the same old story as far as Fulham is concerned, we had a chance to be sitting on 6 points, instead we are down there with Man Utd and the rest of the them. Enough said.

AtlantaJohn. FIFA rules prohibit using video replays during the match. The FA is currently investigating goal line technology that sends an instant signal to the officials when the goal crosses the line (somewhat like the lights used in hockey, but audio instead of visual). These tests are currently being run at the Reading Academy.

    FIFA has some bass-ackwards rules.

For what it's worth, hockey doesn't use "goal line technology" to turn the goal light on, just a dude sitting right behind the net who has a really good view. (Coupled with video replay at higher levels.) Still susceptible to human error, but with one official who's dedicated to just that task, it's much less likely than leaving it to a linesman who also needs to run back and forth to watch offsides and sidelines and all that.

Yeah, I don't see any downside to a quick video review to make a more accurate "goal" or "no goal" call.

The goal judge in hockey is useless. Turning the goal light on in hockey means nothing, it has to be given by the ref. If the ref can't tell, it goes to video replay.

My apologies for the innacurate analogy :)

Nonetheless, with the technology being tested, if the technology detects that the ball has crossed the goal line, an audible signal is sent to the officials, who are still the final arbiters of whether a goal is awarded or not.

I figure it will be at least as good as video replay and much faster.
