    I know, near heresy to mention it (especially here), but time is not on his side, and all these acquisitions seem to tell a story.

    BUT, would you be opposed if Fulham could net a few million in a transfer for him back to The States?

    Obviously, McBride's impact the first part of the season will play a huge roll. Still, recent history shows he loses some influence in the second half.

    Where TF did this come from?

    If Brian goes, it'll be on a free. He only has a one year contract with FFC, and if he doesn't go in January, it'll be at the end of the season, but I haven't seen anything that indicates that he's finished. I think he's still part of LS's plan.

    Just a topic worthy of discussion.

    Would be better if he did not go on a free, don't you think? A final tip of the cap to Fulham.

    McBride will stay till at least the end of the season. He will feature quite often as, IMO, he is the most reliable striker Fulham has at this time. The supporters love him and it will be a sad day when he leaves.

    Wow... when I think about McB retiring or leaving Fulham an air of sadness creeps in. Way to be a buzz kill FFCinPCB :(

    Currently being argued on the Fire MB

    Please remember this folks,... as the 'experts' will ignore anything I say.
    - witness the idiots on there saying he'll come back for DP money.

    McBride is not your ordinary player... he isnt going to follow the money, and he will write a new contract so as to repay his club some money.
    {I mean if a team OFFERS DP money, he'll take it but will play for a lot less in his final farewell tour.}

    Remember when he set up to move to the Prem? He signed a contract with the understanding that MLS would reduce the transfer fee and make him sellable.
    - letting Fulham put a tag on him for over a million is laughable!

    And WHY do people keep mentioning him as a 'coach'.. like the Captain's Armband, is there ANY history that makes that seem feasible to him?

    I'm guessing Columbus would like him back, but if the Fire dont want to spend money for him, he'd still think hard before returning to the Crew.

    I'd say probably not January.. Probably in the summer.

    Brian is in his last year at Fulham. He's a family guy, he'll leave London after his girls end their school year. He WON'T go back in January unless forced out... LS will not force out the two-time player of the year at the club. Stop this nonsense!

    Who said anything about forcing out? For some of the reasons noted by Pettyfog, I think any leaving would be of mutual consent.

    $1million U.S. / 500,000 pounds, or even some bit less, would not be a bad deal, for all involved.

    I shouldn't have used the word force... Did you read the article from last year's FulTime magzine where he talked about the 2007/08 season? He said one more year, his family was happy in London, etc. I really can't believe he'd leave mid-season. Leaving in January means not playing football until the MSL starts in the spring...

    What the hell is MSL? I know the US has a league called MLS...

    Anyway, someone would have to give Fulham a lot of money to get McBride in January for FFC to consider selling McBride. Even then McBride may say no for the reasons of family, not wanting to move, and so forth. Looking at the list of players, maybe Fulham finally has depth and talent at striker beyond McBride; but that doesn't make McBride expendable.

    MSL = Middle School League

    Although, they have graduated to High School recently.

    Please note - my arguments, and my spelling (MLS), are unsound on this subject. McBride leaving is a very emotional issue with me. Brian will stay, Fulham will finish in the top 10, and Chris Coleman will succeed in Spain…

    don't see Brian going anywhere until the end of the season. It will be a sad day when he leaves the club. How many supporters has he brought to the club that will remain supporters even when he's gone. A lot in my estimation, as I'm one of them.

    I could see brian signing for the MLS in January, than playing "on loan" at Fulham for most of the rest of the season. He'd take a month off, get his family situated, and then start with the Fire, missing pre-season and perhaps the first couple games of the season. He'll want his girls to finish the school year, but I could see him spending some time in the US during their last month.

    The best thing about Brian going -- and it will be at the end of this year -- is that he'll do so as a full-fledged member of the Fulham All Time Pantheon of Heroes. Some day -- 25 years from now -- some Brit brought up within walking distance of the Cottage will select as his on-line tag "BrianMcBrideFanClub" in honor of a great Cottager he saw when he was a young lad.

    [Supressing a tear :roll: ; but I think I'm correct about this.]

    Does anyone believe McB will play beyond this season? IMO, he fits the Sherringham mold. He is affective even at 35. Not sure his form will dip drastically from last season... if anything he may improve with a better supporting cast providing service going forward.

    Not saying he will play next season, but I wouldn't throw out the notion of him playing another season either.

    Just a thought.
