I'm planning a trip in the spring and I'm considering going to see the following games:

    SAT 12-APR-08 Reading v Fulham

SAT 26-APR-08 Manchester City v Fulham

    SUN 11-MAY-08 Portsmouth v Fulham

    Which game should I see?

    All the above!

If these are away matches I would choose the Madejski or Fratton Park. If they are at home I would choose the Reading match. Lita, Shorey, Convey, Doyle and the rest of the bunch are a talented group of players.

My choice would be Man Citeh away, as its a proper away day. A nice train trip up to a modern ground. Much better than shitty fratton park and as for Reading, you might as well stay home and watch the MLS their fans are as plastic as they come.

I did the trip to all three last year and Citeh by train with other Fulham fans would be a great day out.

I'm stuck on seeing Craven Cottage. I picture it being a kinda Wrigley Field.

Wrigley is overrated...but that is coming from a Sox fan so you can probably disregard my opinion.

Having just seen Wrigley, the Cottage is better.

If eating one of those dogs w/ an ice cold beer on a sunny afternoon at Wrigley is overrated, sign me up every time. Pac Bell or Fenway are the only 2 I'd rather be at.

Soldier Field for me...Fantastic stadium and it still has that nostalgic feel even after the renovation.

getting back to the thread; if you're interested in seeing Americans on the pitch, then Reading is the one. Convey should be healthy by then, and you could well see four on display.

If it's the ambience of the road trip you're after, then I agree with Mike. Man Citeh is the one. by the way, make sure that you coordinate the trips with Mikey as he makes most of them. I've done away matches on my own or in groups of 3 or 4 and I've done them as part of a rollicking travel group, and the latter is definitely the better.

Have fun! And, as always, post pictures, discriptions, and accounts.

I assume the best way to purchase tickets is to call the clubs ticket office. Can I pick my seat (i.e. the stand I sit in)?

    Hi Oz,

You can pick from a limited suppy. For home matches the central blocks of the Haynes and Hammersmith End are with season ticket holders usually. The central block of the Riverside is the directors box. You should be able to get tickets to either side. The best atmosphere is in the Hammy End, but I prefer the view from the lower section of the Haynes stand.

With regards to the games - I would definatly got to City and avoid Pompey (Fratton Park is a hole and their fans are deeply unplesant).

    Hope you enjoy your trip.

Isn't Fratton Park supposed to be special because it is so small and such a dump? A number of people on the FFC site seem to think Portsmouth is a proper day out for English football.

It's a special place to go - but I would not go again and would not have missed it if I never went. If you want to go and watch football in an samll ground that is falling down go to Griffin Park and watch the Bees - at least they are a decent type of fan (even if they don't like Fulham).

Portsmouth is a proper football ground but is the worst away section in the prem, by far. The area is shit as well should you go once yes, but make sure its not raining.

Regarding tickets Oz, I'd be more than happy to help you out but if you do wait for a home game to go on general sale, you can order online and pick your seat.
