What can I say... an awesome outing, as pettyfog wrote, "about 30 minutes of good soccer" The eats were good the suds were good but most of all the comapany was great. I Hope to make it to another FulhamUSA event soon. COYW. BTW hunt down a copy of the magazinbw SHOOT, good article on the cottage & Lawrie Sanchez plus a lot of EPL info.
    Pictures to follow--

I was highly jealous of you guys and I know I'm not the only one who wished to make the trip.

Special thank to AmericanBob for the first pics and for Justin for arranging for the meet up, everyone seemed to have a great time. Funny how a team 4,000 miles away brings fans together.

It's a shame I couldn't make the match, but I was definitely listening on the radio. I almost went hoarse from screaming Schelloto's name in such a short time span. That man has done much to change the Crew's season around.

Here is a 'match day' report from one of guys off the Fulham Xiles site:

"It seems that Jelly has gone AWOL, so to stop Septic Mike from whining, here’s a report of the FFC fans get together for the Crew v Toronto game. You will notice that I don’t talk much about the game itself. That will give you some idea!

It all started for me on Saturday afternoon when I was joined by Keefy who had managed to wangle a trip to Cincinnati to work at GE. He came round in the afternoon and we entertained ourselves by watching a video of the Fulham v Norwich game. It’s funny how games look different when you watch them again much later. Up until our second goal, that killed Narwich off, it was anyone’s game.

In the evening we met up with Jelly and his wife Meredith and their friend Brad for a ruby. Excellent meal. Either Brad hadn’t eaten for a week or he really liked the meal. I never did understand the rubies over here, when you ask for a Madras and they ask what strength 1-6? It’s a Madras! The same applies for a Kurma. How can you have a hot and spicy Korma??? I guess it’s for the septics’ benefit.

On Sunday, after breakfast at Bob Evans, Jelly arrived and loaded with cooler, we started our trip to Columbus. We arrived at the ground and with some minor difficulty found Jux and his wife. Met up with American Bob, who gets loads of kudos for making the trip, flying from NY to Baltimore to Columbus just for this game. Also, he bought some great spicy sausages! Pettyfog arrived, as did Ralph and his missus, followed by Cleveland Simon, wife and two daughters. Oh, nearly forgot, one of Jelly’s mates who he met in some sex chat room.

As usual with most tailgates there is always loads of food and beer. Jux did a great job with his new grill keeping us all fed. I must say the Crew do a good job with the tailgating as there were lots of families out there and kids playing football. We also had the Fulham banners on display and I’m sure there were a few Crew fans wondering what was going on.

On to the game itself. Well that’s about it, not much to say. The first half was bad!!! Jux and Pettyfog (Crew season ticket holders) were a bit embarrassed and kept saying, “It’s not usually this bad.” 0-0 at HT and there was a lot of crying and “I’m bored, I want to go home.” No, that wasn’t Simon’s young daughters, who were exceptionally well behaved, that was me!

I’ve been to a few MLS games now and the atmosphere is different from the English game, although fair dos to the Toronto fans who were signing and cheering throughout. I don’t really see the point of just making noise for the sake of it. The worse were plastic horns that at first look like a half-a-yard of ale. I was wondering on several occasions how far I could stick one up……

The second half was better. The Crew’s Argie scored both goals, one a good free kick and the Crew won 2-0. Overall, I think the Crew do a good job, and they manage to average around 14,000, which is good for a city the size of Columbus.

After the game we went to the Arena district for a beer. Driving through downtown Columbus reminded me of our Vegas trip to the Rhyolite ghost town. In fact, there were more people in Rhyolite than Columbus. It’s clear that Columbus closes completely on Sunday. We arranged to meet at the Irish Pub, that’s the one where Chicago Tom got totally pissed. Well, it was closed. We did manage to find a Gordon Biersch brew pub and had a beer before driving back to Cincinnati.

Overall, a great day out and it’s always good to meet up with fellow FFC fans. Thanks to Jelly for organizing it, even though he got the Crew ticket guy fired for being overly optimistic about number attending."
