Hi there. I've lurked for a while but finally broke down and became a member. Great site. Also just had my first Craven Cottage experience the weekend before last, 2-1 over Newcastle. Great times.

Welcome aboard my fellow Chicagoan! Glad to see more fellow Fulham fans in the area! How did you find FulhamUSA and how did you become a Fulham supporter?

I discovered the site through the main FulhamFC site, however, I found myself gravitating here more and more whenever the discussion turns to who was more responsible for glory in WWII over there.

As for how I became a Fulham supporter….I grew up with Brian M. (playing on the same baseball team of all things) in the NW suburbs of Chicago. I’ve followed his career closely and around the time he moved to Fulham I got Fox Soccer Channel. With regular access to the EPL, I needed a team to support and it was natural to support Fulham.

Recently there was an interesting discussion on the Fulham FC board about whether the new influx of American fans would still follow Fulham after the Yanks moved on. In my case I’m sure I will – combination of a great story (economic comparison to Oakland A’s is a good one IMO), great tradition and a wonderful venue have me hooked.

Look forward to meeting some of you (I get to Ginger’s Ale House as often as I can when Fulham’s not on FSC) and good discussion.

    Tom

Nice, so how were his Baseball skills? I'm guessing not to shabby.

As you can imagine he was an amazing athlete - great at anything he tried: volleyball (ability in the air made it very dangerous to be on the other side of the net), tennis, basketball.

He was a terrific defensive shortstop, great range and arm (this was 11, 12 13 yrs old).

I’m no longer in touch and only see him occasionally through common friends but I can tell you, as I’m sure others here can as well, that he is incredibly nice and down-to-earth. Definitely a true credit and great ambassador for US Soccer.

Any chance you could talk him into replacing Sunil Gulati next time you see him? At least maybe put the bug in his ear.

(Of course, this is after he plays at least two more years for Fulham, and leads us to Europe.)

Yikes I never thought about that, but really he would be about the last person you'd want going up to spike on you. Scene from "Meet the Parents" comes to mind. And I suppose not many would be able to out rebound him on the bball court.
