looks like the DevTeam at the cottage are up to their usual standard - 'maintenance' (LoB they just got it wrong) on a match day.
Perhaps I should email them and tell 'em to just put the plug back in the wall socket - it'll work then !!!

what's even worse today? The only EPL stuff on is the Portsmouth (yawn) versus Middlesborough (double yawn) match - the only good thing is the meds i'm on at the mo, I sweat portsmouth are playing in a sky-blue-pink strip

Looks like we're not missing much. I'm watching on ESPN gamecast.

    Down 2-0, outshot 12/6 to 3/0

Did the midfield get lost on the way to Sheffield?

Yea, seems like quite the weak effort. I'm stuck watching Liverpool & West Ham on Setanta which isn't doing much either.

We lost and now we are only 2 points ahead of Sheffield. While I do not believe we are in trouble of relegation I think we will not be in the top 10 at the end of the season. from what I read our defense cost us again and our midfield was crap. Also Montella went off early so it must be an injury or something. Our strikers apart from Mcbride and Montella are crap and our Central defense is one of the worst in the Premiership. We have a tough stretch of games coming up and I believe that if our defense doesn't start playing well we will then be in serious trouble.

I was filled with dread when I saw the instant reversion to Knight and Pearce at the back. Why have we gone from 2 players who are getting an understadning, conceeded 1 goal in the last 3 games, have class and skill and replace them with an OAP and a player barely fit for the championship.

Having said that, this is just a reaction, I have not seen highlights or read any reports.

    ------------------------------------------------------

I've had a look round now and am still incensed.

The starting midfield lacked flair, only Radz (who is a bit lightweigt) can provide speed and movement. Where was Wayne? Last week against Stoke he put himself about and was strong - a real physical presence for a little fellah.

Volz and Davies won't sit in the same midfield well and what was the point of bringing Dempsey on for 7 minutes to experience defeat? If Dempsey is not match fit then let him play with the reserves for a while and give him the best opportunity when he does come on by giving him time to do something.

    Gordies next up. COYW.

Only saw the second half, but we were beat to every ball and looked slow or tired.

    Sheff utd

I posted yesterday that Sheff utd have always been one of Fulhams bogey teams, they always have got good results against us especially in Yorkshire. Having said that, it still does not explain the fact we did not have one shot on target according to the reports, that as nothing whatsoever to do with our defenders, the midfield that CC picked was once again a midfield picked to try and contain rather than going for an all out win, and of course when they scored twice that plan is mute, the team picked had no chance of turning it around, so then you are in damage control. The season in the league is pretty much done, we will not attain a top ten spot playing like this, we will probably stay up because the other teams below us are not winning either and apart from a couple of games where they have to play each other, they have some very hard games to come, as do we. I think CC is going to pull out all the stops for a good cup run and is going to protect his players as much as he can for that purpose, we got a good draw on Monday at home to a team we play very well against and a chance with a good draw in the next round to be one game away from a final. CC will be much more adventurous at home and will try and pick up the 11 or so points needed, to stay up. As for Dempsey only getting 7 minutes to play, Bramell lane in January is certainly not the place for a full debut, he will start on Saturday at the cottage along with Routledge, and a much more attacking team.

    RE: Sheff utd

Based on today's lack of producing anything, assuming all are healthy, here is who I would like to see in the line-up:

    ----------------------------- Niemi -------------------------------

    -- Rosenior ----- Christanval ----- Smertin ---- Queudrue --

    --- Routledge ---- Dempsey ----- Brown ------ Radzinski ---

    ------------- Montella -------------- McBride -------------------

Sounded (because I was listening to GJ) like Knight had a nightmare, Pearce is still struggling to find his legs, and Davies (who should be in form) is lost out there.

That was pathetic. Get the energy back in the line-up, Cookie!

I've just finished watching the highlights. 2-0 flattered us. 3Q put in a bad performance. Knight was woeful and so was Pearce.

The midfield ran around but were ineffective and Brown tried too hard. The pitch was poor, but United played football and were first to the ball more often than us. The never let us settle or have time on the ball. The constant pressing is a tribute to them beleiving they can beat us with passion alone.

Niemi did not look great either. I think he will take a couple of games to get his confidence back.

Sky's recap makes it sound like it was tactical, not injury: "Fulham's first half performance had Coleman seething - just 33 minutes had elapsed when he had seen enough, Montella was withdrawn for the more rugged threat of Heidar Helguson."

Yuck. Sounds like a brutal performance all around. Glad I didn't waste time trying to find a way to listen to this one.
