    From Sky Sports:

Moritz Volz has expressed his concern over his varying role at Craven Cottage saying he does not want to be seen as a utility player.

Volz joined Fulham in January 2004 from Arsenal and has played in his favoured position of right-back only three times this season.

His latest role as a barnstorming midfielder has given him more opportunities to score goals, but Volz admits he would prefer a more consistent role in the Fulham squad.

"It was a change for me this season," Volz told the Daily Telegraph. "I didn't start at right-back which was obviously something I wasn't happy about.

"I've only played there three times this season. It's gone really well in central midfield so I'm just taking it step by step at the moment.

"I'm getting a nice run-out and the opportunity to score goals but I don't really want to be seen as a utility player. There is that danger.

"With some good performances I want to put myself forward for the national team, which has been the target for a good few years now.

"I don't think I'll get there by playing in different positions all the time."

    ----------------------------

So, what do you think: right back, or midfield?

He would be better served by regularly playing at RB. He's still not a midfielder. Volz has done well enough for Fulham, but I don't think he'll ever get to the point where he could play that position for the Germans.

... and I agree with Mike. He's getting into a comfort zone. It won't help his chances of playing for Germany [you know what will? Getting the Whites into Europe!!!!!], but I'm not voting on this poll. I'm leaving it up to Cookie.

    In CC I trust!

I think for right now....let's leave him in the MF. It sounds like Cookie is working hard to bring in some help for the MF in the winter window. So if things go well, he should be moving back to his usual spot on down the road....

I think playing midfield will help his game when he returns to defence. I has always been confident on the ball and a good attacking option. But he will really understand what the players ahead of him want and how to supply it.

Stay in midfield for the rest of the season, regardless of who we buy and learn the craft.

Then return to defence and scare the opposition with a new understanding of the football pitch.

I look forward to seeing Volz in the right back position and agree with GBFC that his current stay in the MF will only help him when we get the right lads in the middle.
