...Hello to anyone out there who is remotely interested. I have supported Fulham FC since 1967 and my message board name is in honour of my favourite player Les Barrett, who used to wear the number 11 on his shirt (hence LBNo11) he was a very fast and skillful left winger who was at his peak just at the time that wingers, in the old fashioned sense were becoming obsolete, hence him only being capped once for U21 England against Greece.

My main interest is in the history of Fulham and I have a collection of books on our club that teach me about generations of players/managers/chairmen that I never saw, and remind me of incidents that I did see. We have a long history (the oldest London Club) and though our achievements are modest the fans have much to be proud of; a family club in the true sense of the words.

My son Harry (Lankster) and my wife's family, cousins, uncles, aunts etc., are also Fulham fans as was my Dad, so too, I hope, will be any grandchildren.

Apart from that my hobbies are music, although this MB administrator does not share my opinion in that direction, and trying to understand one sentence that pettyfog makes (seriously).

That said my regards to all the ex-pats out there and to the new septic Fulham fans, do not expect glory, do not have high hopes, be prepared for a bumpy ride and disappointments...but be prepared to be part of a strong, enduring family with pride on it's side...

...hello Dave, which books do I recommend? That is difficult to answer as it depends on your budget, your current knowledge of the club and your thirst for new knowledge.

I have twenty books on Fulham FC but the essential ones are in my opinion the following:-

    1) Fulham Facts & Figures 1879 - 1998 (ISBN 1-900711-08-7) by Dennis Turner and Alex White. Northdown Publishing Ltd.

    2) The Men Who Made Fulham Football Club (ISBN 0-7524-2423-8) by Alex White. Tempus Publishing Ltd.

    3) Fulham's Golden Years (A Pictorial Memoir of Fulham Football Club 1958 - 1983 (ISBN 0-9515217-2-1) Ken Coton. Ashwater Publishing. *

    4) Fulham Football Club - The Official 125 Year Illustrated History. (ISBN 1-85983-423-X) Dennis Turner. Breedon Books. **

    5) A Century of Memorable Matches by Dennis Turner and Alex White. This does not have an ISBN number as it was published in aid of 'Fulham 2000' but is available from the club shop. If you know someone in England they could but and send to you. There are no pictures but it is a fascinating book.

Notes: * This is out of print, although it is sometimes resurrected on a limited print run. Try going onto Amazons waiting list or look on e-bay.
** A few mistakes, but still a good read.

Once you get hold of these, if you still want more, get in touch with me.

    All the best - LBNo11

    LB,
Thank you for stopping by and I am very happy for you that yesterday turned out to be such a positive and momentus day. You and the other fans that saw Johnny play deserved nothing less...and neither did JH.
