I'm planning on it. My son will be doing a semester in Germany at that time. Smart kid with good sense of timing. Ticket applications are open on www.fifaworldcup.com until March 31st. About 800,000 of the 3.3 million tickets are included. The applications will go into a lottery that will take place on April 15th. There will be four additional application periods in the future. You can apply for specific games or apply to follow your home team.

I'd definately go if the funds were available, whether or not the US qualifies. I went to a game at RFK in '94 between Saudi Arabia and Belgium. Even though they're two teams that no one really cares about the atmosphere is different than anything you'll even find in european club football.

We were right next to the saudi section and they did that lallaallalalalalallallaalalal high pitched scream the entire game. The cool part was that we saw what eventually was voted the goal of the world cup. Some saudi got the ball at midfield and dribbled through literally 8 guys and scored.

My wife and I will definitely be there. We put in our applications for the first round of FIFA tickets the day they were available. I applied for tickets to first round games in Berlin, Liepzig, Hannover, and Hamburg. I'm crossing my fingers to see what we get. Hope to see lots of other Americans in Deutchland.
