Is it just me, or are those constantly shifting, ground-level adverts all around the perimeter of the pitch at Old Trafford a complete distraction?

It would be one thing if the ads were constant and/or stationary, or perhaps if they only shifted during stoppages in play, but those ads are constantly changing, shifting colors from bright white to red to black and back again, and worst of all, "chasing" around the boards throughout the entire match, for God's sake! God, it was maddening trying to watch the match yesterday -- I thought it was going to give me a seizure or something.

It MUST be distracting to the players, no? During at least a handful of Tottenham rushes up the field, as the adverts were "chasing" around and shifting from bright red to bright white, I was thinking "What the hell are they doing?" It drove me nuts.

Are there no rules on such adverts?

It is funny you mention this as I was saying the same thing to my girlfriend's brother last night as we were watching the United match. From Dimension Data to Budweiser these signs are changing all the time and it is annoying. Anything for a buck I guess. I do not think there are rules to regulate this, but there should be as it is hard on the eyes. More reason to dislike them I guess.

I agree completely. Maybe Carroll found it distracting, too! (I know Tim Howard had a couple of bad mistakes early on in the season, but I think he can at least catch a pop fly.)

I suppose it is distracting, baseball has a blank blue surface used to project an adverstisement only on TV. Its surprising that its allowed, although they may sell more concession to afford all the talent they have. Its doesnt look so "Old" with LED computerized screens lining the entire pitch area.

It must be distracting. I wonder if the media ever asks any of the players about this. Would be interesting to hear their comments on it.
