I am still uncertain what route to take with the site. If we continue, I definitely want to switch hosting services.

So the first thing I want to do is find cheap reliable hosting. I may have found a solution by running forum software on a cheap server,
    here:
    http://fulhamforums.com

I am very curious on how the server runs under some stress, so I am toying with the idea of putting this forum in read-only while I hope most of us regulars test out the new forum. New accounts would need to created there, just fyi.

Would everyone be ok with that? Just switching for a week or so?

I think for over the summer that could work.

I signed up. Just let us know if there's anything in particular you want us to try for testing purposes.

For now I just want to see how the server and forum perform with a few of us on there at the same time.

thanks everybody. If everybody could post over there, especially links, video, and photos (by the way you should be able to just drag and drop photos in a message) I would appreciate it.

I signed up and gave it a try. I think I speak for just about everyone here when I say do whatever you've got to do to keep this thing afloat, Heather (and I'm sure plenty on here will be willing to help you out in doing so). I think it's a great community where there's a lot of divergent opinions, but everyone respects each other and stays relatively active. That's why people keep coming back through all the re-designs and uncertainty. We love the club, but we also have grown fond of the discourse and people here. It's been a pleasure to have been part of it for the last few years. I think when things go quiet for periods of time it's a lot more of a comment on Fulham's form than FulhamUSA's.

Thanks Steve. I understand that people's reasons for not posting on a regular basis, whether Fulham have been playing poorly or there just aren't many yanks on the team anymore, etc. And honestly, I don't like redesigning the site just for the sake of red-designing it, which is kind of why I'm looking at different options. Every time there seems to be update to the web cms the site uses or the forum software, I have to put in quite a bit effort...sometimes a complete overhaul to make sure we stay up-to-date (to prevent some hacking possibilities). Plus, the site's web host has been poor lately. I really would like to set up the site for the community and just enjoy the discussion without putting in a help ticket every other week or paying too much money to run a site that sometimes doesn't get a whole lot of traffic (especially in the offseason).

If anybody out there has experience with running a website, web hosts, web servers, and/or has recommendations to help out with the above, please send me a PM.Thanks.

Just a quick survey for those who gave the temporary forum experiment a go early in the summer. Which forum did you prefer overall? I ask because that software is coming along in development--one of the reasons I closed and gave up on it was because I didn't feel like it was quite ready for prime time, especially in the mobile device department.
