Harry Arter has joined Fulham on loan (another loan!) from Bournemouth. He played for Cardiff last season while on loan there.

The midfielder didn't play much for Cardiff in the second half of last season and he didn't play much for Bournemouth in the second half of the season prior to that. While he hasn't seen a lot of playing time recently I'll be interested to see if he can show something better than what we saw from Johansen on Saturday.

Think I read that Arter is Scott Parker's brother-in-law. Between this and Markovic last season, I thought we had an analytical transfer system in place?

Kline was allegedly a nutcase but it's stark to compare our transfer record from when he and TK were running things, to since then.

So the window closes on the 9th and the Sess drama keeps dragging on. If we’re going to sell (the kid is leaving on a free next summer) then get it done today, and focus on a couple of other signings w/guys that know and can handle the physicality of the division the club is in.

The deal appears to be done. Haven't seen official word, but I trust the BBC. The agreement is for £25 million with incentives that could go to £30 million. Plus Fulham gets midfielder Josh Onomah

And, yet here we sit having not addressed the glaring hole at RB and the obvious frailties on the back line from last year...just a run it back in the Championship and hope it works out. 1 CB is hurt, 1CB is coming back from injury and 1 CB has barely trained with the team this off season. And we have another quasi-CB playing RB because we can't bear to have the only RB with experience, playing. Maybe SSess is the answer, but that can't be our only answer.

    Sorry for the rant.

We don't normally talk about the ones we DIDN'T get, but given the lack of choices on the back line I was disappointed to see Cameron Carter-Vickers went on loan to Stoke. Would have been fun having him paired with Ream - at least until the first goal was conceded :)

A little time is left but the defensive options are looking mighty thin for Fulham.

This is nice, although I would have included audio of the fans singing "HE'S ONE OF OUR OWN! HE'S ONE OF OUR OWN!! RYAN SESSEGNON IS ONE OF OUR OWN!!!"

I'm feeling let down. How many defenders are on the roster? And how many midfielders now? I guess de la Torre won't be getting the game time that I had hoped he would.

    To recap this summer...

    Players that Exited
    André Zambo Anguissa (loan)
    André Schürrle (end of loan)
    Calum Chambers (end of loan)
    Havard Nordtveit (end of loan)
    Jean Michaël Seri (loan)
    Lazar Markovic (expired contract)
    Luciano Vietto (end of loan)
    Ryan Babel (expired contract)
    Ryan Sessegnon (transfer)
    Sergio Rico (end of loan)
    Tim Fosu-Mensah (end of loan)

    Players that Came In
    Anthony Knockaert (loan)
    Bobby Decordova-Reid (loan)
    Harrison Reed
    Harry Arter (loan)
    Ivan Cavaleiro (loan)
    Josh Onomah
Marek Rodák (moved up to first team)

    Players with an Extended Contract
    Aleksandar Mitrovic
    Denis Odoi
    Floyd Ayité
    Neeskens Kebano
    Stefan Johansen
    Tom Cairney

    Players with No Change

    Aboubakar Kamara
    Alfie Mawson
    Cyrus Christie
Fabri (seriously, we couldn't get rid of this guy?)
    Ibrahima Cissé
    Joe Bryan
    Kevin McDonald
    Marcus Bettinelli
    Maxime Le Marchand
    Rui Fonte
    Tim Ream
Luca de la Torre (Listed on the PL2 squad)
Marcelo Djaló (Listed on the PL2 squad)
Steven Sessegnon (Listed on the PL2 squad)

I'd like to feel positive about the window, but (begin the broken record...) I keep thinking that the squad had one of the worst defenses ever seen in the Premiere League and didn't make a single addition on the back line. Of the six defenders, two of them have been suffering with injuries (Mawson and Ream), two functioned primarily as subs during Fulham's last season in the Championship (Christie and Odoi) and one is just flat out terrible (Le Marchand). Plus two defenders left after their loans expired (Chambers and Fosu-Mensah). I just can't comprehend why nothing was done to strengthen the back line.

Think it was an adequate, not awful, transfer window. It's glaring that we did not address the CB and RB issue, but, we did address an issue one issue that I think has been overlooked last season and into this: our midfield.

We were so awful defensively last season for a number of reasons (players, tactics, managers), but our midfield as a unit never really got the blame that other areas did--only individual players. Lest we forget our midfield was so bad, we had to deputize a CB-on-loan (Chambers) to play in it for 90% of the season.

It's very disappointing de la Torre's path is now completely blocked, but we procured two actual center mids in Reed and Arter. Bobbu Reid can sorta play in the center but further up than Cairney--and offer support to Mitrovic who's been stranded on an island two seasons running.

Onomah can support Knockaert and Cavaleiro in replacing Sess's role and the revolving door we had of Kebano/Ayite/Piazon.

We'll just have to see how things shake out.

Fabri has been sent out on loan to Mallorca who were just promoted to La Liga last season. If you are going to be sent out on loan to anywhere, well, it might as well be the Mediterranean jewel of Mallorca! I hope Fabri enjoys his time there and finds it as relaxing as the 12 months he spent hanging out in West London doing nothing.
