There's a strong likelihood the missus and I will be attending the Sunderland match next month.

As it's been over a decade since I was last at the Cottage, I barely remember a thing about the "game day experience", and can only imagine things have changed slightly.

So, suggestions on pre/post game activities, seating suggestions, meetups, etc?

    Thanks!

Honestly, in the last decade, there's just a couple of things that are different. The Micheal Jackson statue is gone, replaced by one of George Cohen. There are some slightly more upscale food choices in the Hammersmith end. Can't say much about the rest of the ground, I've only ever sat in the Hammersmith. It's the loudest part of the stadium.

The Golden Lion is still it's gritty old self, but if it's a nice day, the beer garden in the back is the place to be. I've also spent some time at the Durrel Arms, on the Fulham road, on my last few trips. A proper pub, and home fans only. Postgame, the Crabtree, along the Thames path heading towards Hammersmith is a great walk and a nice spot - but it is very crowded for the first hour or so post match. Do you know where you are staying?

I think you'll find that the ground and most everything around it is still gloriously the same.

I've only been there once, just last year. I sat in the Riverside stand and had a couple families around us, which was fine with me since I'm rather subdued when watching games. I made sure our seats were far enough back that we'd be under the roof in case it rained. There are also far fewer stanchions on the Riverside Stand than the Haynes Stand to block your view.

If I could go again, I'd try to see if I could find the guy behind Fulham1879 FanTV. I really appreciate the videos he posts on YouTube. He's usually out by the river on the Hammersmith side after matches. See if you can talk to him after the match and make yourself Internet famous.

I echo the sediment on having fun, but I admit I’m more than a bit jealous!

Excellent! On the Putney side, there's a new place called the Rocket that a lot of younger supporters go to pre-match. There's also another really old Pub called the Bricklayer's Arms tucked away on a side street off Lower Richmond Road, and then right on the water there is the Duke's Head. Really can't go wrong with almost anything there.

Don't know what your lodging and transportation plans are, but the walk from the Putney Bridge tube station through Bishops Park to the Cottage is very nice, if the weather's amenable.
