Here is a shocker...Alan Pardew replaces Pulis. The Prem is the ultimate manager retread league. This guy goes to a place, has limited to zero success, gets sacked or quits, waits a few months and gets another gig..sigh.

Big Sam (finalizing a deal at Everton) is a retread also, but unlike Pardew he gets results. He finds dumpster fires and puts them out, but wears out his welcome. Everton (currently 17th) won't be relegated w/him but once steadies the ship the Toffees will look for greener pastures

I can't understand how any team in danger of relegation from the Premier League would fire Pulis or Big Sam. It's insane.

Former Fulham manager Rene Meullensteen was canned by the Kerela Blasters in the Indian Super League. What surprised me most in the article about his firing is that the Blasters' striker is Dimitar Berbatov. Meullensteen managed Berbatov for a few matches at Fulham before he was sent off to Monaco. I thought Berbatov had retired, but after a year off he signed with the Blasters. Sadly the Meullensteen/Berbatov pairing turned out to be just as effective in the Indian Super League as the Premier League.

Stoke's FA Cup loss to League 2 Coventry finally put Mark Hughes out of his misery. I agree w/you HD, he's a very solid gaffer, but it's tough keeping a club the size of Stoke going. Currently in 18th and w/the worst GD in the Prem it's not a surprise.

Yeah, it had to happen. It seems that no matter how you perform at a Premier League club, sooner or later you get the tin tack.

It was 1966 when I first heard an English manager say, "We're hired to be fired."

It would seem to be a no win scenario if you're not at one of the top of the food chain clubs. How long can you tread water?

Always slightly sad (when it’s not your team, very sad when it is) when a legendary coach stays too long. When I first started watching the Prem, Arsenal was the gold standard. They truly played the ‘beautiful game’ in that wonderful old stadium Highbury. Now, they play in boring Emirates with a manager in Wenger who really should’ve left the club 4 to 5 years ago. The Arsenal team I saw lose at home (won on Agg.) to a small former 3rd division club from Sweden in the Europa, then turning around and quit in League Cup Final to Citeh screams it’s well past time for him to go.

I totally agree, Joe. When I tuned into the match at the beginning of the 2nd half, Arsenal looked like a third-tier club. I've defended Wenger for years because the football was almost always entertaining, but this was a soulless and lifeless display, and Arsene didn't seem to give a shit.
