Anyone else watching this? Highly recommended if you aren't, even though it's been as infuriating as interesting for me.

I was born in 71 and my Dad's a Nam vet and we've talked more about this subject these last 2 weeks than in all the rest of my life.

I was unable to watch all of them, but the parts I watched were very well done. I thought the episode 10 wrap was almost a "bit off more than they could chew" proposition, but you could probably do another ten part film on just that. The folks they chose to tell the story through were good and well thought out, but they missed one that would have been tremendous. I know you've got to draw the line somewhere, but one of my former colleagues, Dinh Phuc Le, was a cameraman for NBC during the war, and was present for the the napalm and execution events that resulted in those famous still photos that led to the end of the war. He and his crew (he was the sound man that day) had to hide after the execution because, he said, the police chief was drunk and would come looking for them when he sobered up. After the network brought he and his immediate family to this country after the war, he spent most of the next decade plus systematically working to get the rest of his family out of Vietnam to the U.S. He also survived two chopper crashes, one there, and one here during a snowstorm in the late '70's.

As much as I resect Ken Burns filmmaking, I couldn't bring myself to watch even a minute of this. Living through it was plenty. I'd really be interested in reading more comments like Ag's and jk's.
