Rooting for Arizona Alum Terry Francona to take Cleveland to the WS. Potential huge problem is a long layoff if they sweep the Blue Jays. Seems like the team that sits around for a week always loses.

Interesting stat on MLB -- Over the course of the season, several of Toronto's mashers hit a collective .190ish against breaking balls. Cleveland has a staff full of them and they are so deeply into Toronto's heads, they're taking 2-2 93 mph fastballs down the pipe because they're expecting breaking stuff.

Harold Reynolds: "There's nothing worse for a hitter than going up to the plate confused."

I think our senator is half way there with here WS predictions.

Sorry Lax for having to sit through that, but trust me it was probably better than listening to Joe Buck (we got it Joe, you're from St. Louis and desperately want the curse to continue). Rizzo and Russell look like they are turning their bats into sawdust from gripping it too hard. Cubs better win today or the prospect of Kershaw finishing them in 5 looms.

where da love for da Cubbies?

As much as I enjoyed Kansas City's station to station baseball last World Series, the idea of two teams built on pitching, infield defense, base-running, and situational hitting meeting in the WS while the one dimensional teams watch on TV gives me great joy.

What could possibly go wrong? Oh, I don't know. How about two teams in cities on the Great Lakes playing baseball in November. What indeed?

Still hard to believe that the Cubs are in the Fall Classic (or should it be Early Winter Classic?). Also estatic to see the team w/the best record in baseball is rewarded with home field advantage....'er, 'um...Does this make sense to anyone: Cleveland has the home field despite winning 9 games fewer because 2 Kansas City players drove in all 4 American League runs in a 4-2 win

I LOATHE the All-Star game home field advantage situation. I would rather go back to alternating every year rather than trying to give existential meaning to a meaningless showcase. I do love the All-Star game for what it should be but basing home field advantage on it ...... get a grip please Mr. Commissioner.

This is one Cardinals fan that will pulling for the Cubbies. GO CUBS GO!

Agree, Cleveland is looking tougher and tougher. But come on,Cubbies, Cubbies, Cubbies...bases loaded, no out, late in the game, ya gotta plate at least 1, if not 2, in that scenario. Andrew Miller did make a couple of mistakes too, but was just good enough to escape unscathed.

Kluber did get the W in that game, interestingly enough. Of course, he only pitched 1 inning.

I hate settling it that way as well, but didn't they just alternate home field between the leagues before the change? It's not like they had it right then messed it up.

Rooting for the Tribe btw. I like the Cubs as loveable losers. Besides, Chicago as a city isn't hurting for Championships (Bears, Bulls, Hawks).

Kluber is yet another talented ballplayer we watched pass through here in SA that the Padres let go to someone else. It's part of their "We love our players" program. Each year they catch and release a few so they can experience post-season baseball during their careers.

For those not familiar, notable former Missions pitchers include Kluber, King Felix, Pedro Martinez, Orel Hershiser, Fernando Valenzuela and Dennis Eckersley...off the top of my head.

First WS game at Wrigley since 1945...the 'Ol Place will be electric. Schwarber unable to be cleared to play in the field so he goes from DH to PH.

I honestly cannot remember ever seeing a game at Wrigley end 1-0 when the wind was blowing that hard straight out to left (which means pop flies go out), the pitching was crazy good.

Not only staring down history, but now a 3-1 deficit. I think Lester handles the pressure and then ya neva' nough.

Doesn't look good for the North Siders, does it? If they come back from this deficit, it truly will be a jinx breaker for the ages. They can do it, but Cleveland is playing, and pitching, awfully well. Even though he wasn't as sharp as he was in Game 1, Kluber did do one thing that seems lacking in today's game...strike one, strike one, strike one.......
