Throughout the course of the USMNT's history we have produced players with touch (Ramos, O'Brien, Donovan, etc), but why is it that most all of our current regular first team squad members have the touch of a brick mason?? I know that Argentina is ranked #1 for a reason, but to see how they collect passes, compared to how we repeatedly gave them back possession because of fundamentals was aggravating. Is it simply too late to teach once the player reaches 20?

I'd say no, it's not too late but it would require a total change of mindset. And plenty of 'visualisation' mind exercise. And PRACTICE.
HOWEVER... remember those Brazilian juggling phenoms that were viral on Youtube...How many of them made it big? It takes more than touch.
