We've been prosecuting every bit of international bribery we can get our hands on for the last several years. Bribery requires money laundering, and we're starting to look seriously at bribery all over the globe. I just read an article in the local rag yesterday about the head of a Mexican broadcasting network who has been arrested for bribery, money laundering of drug money. It's about the 15th of that type I've read in the last year. Then there's the heavy fines levied on HSBC Bank for laundering Colombian cartel billions, and now we're even investigating "Nephew-ism" in China -- getting regional officials to allow foreign companies to have sweetheart deals in exchange for an "executive position." For those of you who've studied ANY colonial history, this is what the Brits did for over 200 years. Given the propensity for hiding huge sums of money from drugs, kidnapping, sex trade in international bank deals, even stuff as low-level as FIFA is in the cross-hairs. Let 'em all go to jail, I say.

The Senator's right, there's no inherent or inalienable right for FIFA to exist. If UEFA, CONCACAF and CONMEBOL take their ball and form a new world soccer body, the Asian federation would have to keep Blatter's "family" bankrolled. They could do it with the oil money, but without Europe and South America, nobody would give a crap.
