Looks like mix to nycfc and Altidore swapped for Defoe. Rumors that Juves Giovinco could be lured to Tfc as well.

The last I saw, Sunderland said their were no inquiries about Altidore's contract.

I'd rather see Jozy return to the Dutch league & rebuild his confidence. Sunderland has been a bit of a disaster.

Bugger. Deuce and the Sounders are gonna be in Columbus...the same night as The Who concert at the chicken bucket. What are the odds?

Well you at least have to credit Toronto for it's willingness to throw money around, Giovinco is a shocking signing. Can't think of another in his prime (only 28) foreign player ever signing with the MLS. He, Jozy, and Bradley's salaries are staggering. He's not coming until July, but it will be interesting to see if his callbacks to the Azzurri will be diminished because of this.

I was under the impression that the league was paying the players.

The season is a go. BTW, does anybody use MLS live? Think this season is going to be a really good one, so I am interested in possibly seeing more games. But not sure if I'll be interested in watching anything other than the big match-ups that seem to get TV coverage, so 75 dollars may not be worth it? Hmm.

I haven't tried MLS live. I get all of my MLS coverage either locally or via NBC/ESPN. I'm stoked for the Quakes' new stadium- another year of season tix, so hopefully Wondo finds his scoring boots this year.

I finally broke down and bought it earlier this week for the first time ever and LOVED it today. Was stuck at work and was able to watch three different games throughout the day (including watching Jozy score twice today). Great quality and it even works on my phone.

Yeah, I think I may sign up for it eventually. But will hold off for now and see whether I will NEED it. :)

Glad DC won their opener. Think the Eastern Conference will be quite a bit stronger this year than last.

Haven't kept up with the contract negotiations, so I'm glad they're playing, obviously. And look, Jozy scored two goals. Amazing. I'm gonna be anti-Sunderland forever now. Still bummed that Deuce and the Sounders are gonna be in Columbus the same night as The Who are gonna be in The 'Ville. May have to peruse their schedule to see if any other appearances within driving distance.

62k in Orlando for their 1-1 debut. Nice goal by Mix for NYFC and Orlando & fans looking good in purple.

Get the feeling this thread is going to supplant the Yanks Abroad thread, with so many key Americans in MLS.

I also get the feeling this is the year where MLS takes another step toward the next level. I still think there's a sizable gap between MLS and the top 4 but they're looking like the clear #5. Maybe that's an American-centric view. In the past, I'd have put the Eredivisie & English Championship ahead of them. It's taken a while for me to come around to MLS, but from an appeal standpoint, they're up to 3rd for me personally.
