PBS will air a documentary about Bob's time in Egypt on June 16th. Here's the teaser:

I'm guessing they chose the date to coincide with the Ghana match.

I'll be watching it instead of the World Cup and hoping Ghana beats the living crap out of the USA. Watch the 2010 world cup match vs Ghana and tell me what how Beckerman is going to be able to help us against the black stars.

To each their own, but I gotta say 'whoa, there cowgirl.' I don't care who's in the shirt (remember it's the name on the front that we care about, not the back), I will never, ever root against the US. It'll be good, Mo, take some time.

...and Beckerman is the weed hook up, we know that :D

While there may be a lack of respect for American players abroad, I really wish players and managers would refrain from complaining about it. Makes us look like whiners. Don't complain, go out prove them wrong and earn respect. As a former athlete nothing motivated me more than people telling me what I couldn't do. I then had a point to prove. I made sure to thank them later.

Amen, sister. And nothing would earn more respect than our deepest ever World Cup run in the next month-plus.

I think that is exactly what Dempsey, Bradley, McBride, Gooch, and others have done abroad. But if you're
asked the question or you're defending your teammate after the national team coach says he hasn't "done sh!t" in his career why not say what you think. Why ignore the issue.

Because there might be other factors involved--to say it's because he's American may not be a complete and truthful answer. Can we really conclude that young Bradley isn't at Arsenal because he's an American? Could it be that Michael wanted a long-term deal and Arsenal weren't prepared to offer one? Kallstrom was a short-term loan deal, perhaps that's why he was picked over Bradley. That's all Arsenal could afford and wanted to do at the time.

I'm disappointed in Bob's answer to this question. I really don't like it when he says Michael feels strongly that he's better than Kallstrom. That may be true, but that really puts his son on the spot. I know I wouldn't my private thoughts about my competitors to be known worldwide, especially if it's negative. Why give them ammo? And it is very disrespectful, which what Bob complains about with his son.

But Heather this is Michael and Bob Bradley you are talking about. Michael went over to Holland at the age of 17, learned the language so he could do his interviews in Dutch and proved himself on the field. He did the same thing in Germany and then again in Italy. How many pro athletes can you name that have showed a similar dedication to gaining the respect of their clubs and fans? Same thing goes for Bob as a coach. His incredible efforts in Egypt are what prompted this thread. They are among the last people I can think of who would resort to whining & excuses. He didn't conclude Arsenal didn't pick Michael because he is American. His respect comments are the result of a 10 year pro soccer career and decades of coaching. I understand your point about mentioning Kallstrom. Maybe that was going too far but perhaps he felt the need to give an example, and Kallstrom is an effective one.

My take on this is that it was a conscious decision on Bob's part to bring this topic up. He's normally so reserved when it comes to giving his opinions in public. He even mentioned in the interview that he and Michael never give their opinions. Perhaps he thinks it's an issue that needs to be discussed. It doesn't just happen in Europe it happens a lot right here in the USA at every level on up to the current national team coach. I don't think he cares that it happens it Europe; you expect that. I think he cares about what is happening in the US

Starting to sound like StabaekUSA, with Bob and the players mentioned in the article. Diskerud also played there previously.

I hate to "go all HatterDon" here, but I hope Bob gets a shot in England but I hope it's not with Fulham.

Some more Bob Bradley along with a side of Bruce Arena.

    http://www.noshortcorners.com/2015/07/bob-builder.html

If you want to see Bob's video you'll have to follow the link.

We make a lot of fun of English media outlets around here - and then there is FourFourTwo magazine, which gets respect. The new issue ranks the current top 50 managers in the world, and hey whaddyaknow about that? The US of A has two coaches on the list, Bruce Arena at #46 and Bob Bradley all the way up at #24.

In UK football speak, that essentially means the magazine thinks he is Championship playoff-caliber. In fact, they are digging his scene so much, the former USMNT boss also gets his own glowing feature article.

While we are on the topic of papa Bradley, feel free to take a knee as the Stabæk manager gives his mid-season review.
