The official announcement from FC Twente (in Dutch) http://www.fctwente.nl/blog/2015/01/chris-david-maakt-seizoen-af-enschede/

I wonder what happened to Chris David? He seemed to have such a bright future, especially after the finale against Crystal Palace last season. David was given a fair amount of time under Magath, but only saw the bench after Kit came in (except for a brief substitution against Derby).

I got the impression he is pretty much a one way player & Kit wants guys who will work on both ends. At this level, that's a must for the most part.

When David was wowing people early this season, I saw two things that disturbed me -- well, two pieces of evidence towards one thing that disturbed me.

    1. While he's a good passer of the ball, David tended to try to take on multiple players rather than play in his own teammates. This results not only in loss of possession, but also in teammates stopping running off the ball.

    2. Several times when we we had a free kick in a "dangerous area," we'd bring up Burn and Bodurov to win aerial battles, and then David would try to score directly. On at least two occasions I can remember, line drives into the wall resulted in quick counter-attacks with our central defenders well out of position for -- basically -- no reason.

I think David has undoubted skills, but I think he's not fully familiar with the word teamwork. Over the years I've seen many players like him -- obviously talented but with a superiority complex. It never seems to end well.

Thanks for the reminders of how he played. I do remember scratching my head a few times and saying "What the f*** was that?" After seeing tonight's Super Bowl maybe he can become the offensive coordinator for Pete Carroll since they both generate the same kind of reaction.

I've always been a fan on David. He's got that creative spark we need at times. Sure he isn't right for every game, but I still think he'd be a good option off the bench when we're down. And I just don't buy the "he's a one way player" thing. Have we seen Ruiz defend? Ever?

Yes. Not his strength, but Bryan's defensive numbers are surprisingly better than his reputation would have you believe. I recall Ruiz tracking back & stealing the ball back on numerous occasions.
