Alan Curbishley

Alan Curbishley appointed first team technical director today. What's a technical director, and what do they do?

 

So he decides who's on the roster instead of the head coach/manager?

 

Not sure what his exact responsibilities will be, but working with the scouts and using his connections is probably at the top of the list. If you look through a little of his resume http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Curbishley Curbs had an amazing run at Charlton. Then came that debacle replete with lawsuits at Wet Spam that damaged his reputation. He has been working as a commentator for years which means he watches a ton of football. I find it interesting that he took this type a gig, is he using this as a way back into managing somewhere else again? If the club doesn't survive the drop, and Rene is let go, he will be given the opportunity if he so chooses.
