I'm encouraged by this. It shows that Khan recognizes the systemic failure that has taken place since he took over when it comes to footballing/Manager decisions. I also like the transparency of it. He said he was seeking counsel on this decision and he could have justifiably left it at that. Instead he's going about this publicly and appears to have assembled a well rounded group. You've got the youth angle represented with Jennings, the player angle with McBride and Murph. They've both also been involved after their playing days as pundits so you have the tactical angle covered. And you have a fan and sports business perspective angle with Daly. The only thing missing would be a former manager, but then unless they dislike each other, managers are almost never good at being critical of one another.

Once again, I think Khan's lack of football knowledge is overblown. Most owners aren't former players/coaches either. We have a billionaire owner, willing to open the checkbook and invest in the club, who is successful in business and is willing to leave the footballing decisions to the football people, for the most part. The problem is that I think he thought he had the latter and it's since been proven that, while he does in some facets, there are some gaping holes in that setup. Rather than add to the board, Khan seems to be taking a more modern approach of gathering a temporary committee to address larger issues as they arise. I'd still like to see a Director of Football appointed as I think we do need a permanent addition to help in player acquisition. But otherwise, I think this is a smart, thoughtful and flexible way of handling the matter.

Hopefully Kit makes the whole thing moot.

    Good thinking, AM!
You are exactly right about the manager angle. They aren't necessarily any more adept than the average punter.
Let's say for PR purposes Sir Alex were added. He might push for a former assistant. Or bring up Bob Bradley, again.
Which allows us to proceed to... wonder if McBride will plump for/ at least contact Moyes. And wonder what Moyes is thinking about that.
Before you guys protest about Moyes... imagine him back at PNE but with more money.

Spot on about the avalanche of prospective manager candidate stories during the break, Senator.
Hell, somebody's probably cooking up an "Alex Ferguson coming out of retirement to lead Fulham back to top flight" headline. Should keep us amused for a bit anyways.
    Umm, Billy WHO?

I read somewhere that the betting activity on next Fulham manager was quite low, so any money laid on a candidate moves the numbers easily. Given Billy's 9 years here as an asst, it's easy to see why someone might have placed that bet. Until they suspend betting, I'd ignore odds changes.

If our chairman was George W. Bush instead of Khan, then I'd be laying my money down on either McGod, Danny, or Niall as the next manager. He is, after all, the guy who put Alberto Gonzales in charge of finding a new AG, Harriet M to recommend a new Supreme Court Justice, and Dick Cheney to find a VP candidate.

It's another in a long line of articles based wholly on the betting odds changing. They'll continue to change, and we'll continue to see these articles, until we hire someone. Linking these articles over & over is like a new version of spam.

Let me begin by saying that my comments are not in any way, shape or form, intended to discredit the efforts of our fearless digital leader, The Right Honourable Gentlelady From Mary Land.
The Telegraph article by Mr. John Percy has more holes in it than a hunk of Swiss cheese.
From the misleading headline, making the announcement seem imminent, to the couched wording implying no attribution whatsoever, this is the definition of lazy journalism. Of course Shahid Khan's going to fly in at some point...he lives in North America. I don't think he'll be taking the QE2, do you?
"Ready" to fly in, says the fine print. That's like me being "ready" to take a dump. It's inevitable (at least at my advanced age, it still is. Fortunately). "Flying in" says the headline. Today? No, "next week" says the story. Well now, that narrows it down. That gives the author a wide berth to be right on his baseless speculation. Which is all this "story" is. I could have written it in my underoos at home watching NCIS. Don't get me wrong. It may well go down this way. But all this is just an educated guess...probably one they came up with over a pint or two of Adams. All the rest is stuff WE ALREADY KNOW, AND HAVE KNOWN FOR WEEKS. Or can logically be assumed by anyone with a functioning cerebellum. Again, this diatribe is in no way intended to impugn the Good Senator from Mary Land's hard work and integrity. I thank her profusely for finding and posting it. I'd rather know about it than not. At this rate, it's academic. We have our man, and it's Christopher Jeremiah Symons.
