In the interest of moving on from an utterly forgettable outing at Pride Park, let's turn to Saturday's home fixture against the Tractor Boys. They beat Wigan 3-nil, after drawing B'ham City and losing to Cardiff City.
They're six points clear of the relegation zone after the Wigan result, so maybe we'll catch them on the down low. We just need to turn it around. Haven't had a positive performance since Newcastle. What to do? How about starting the same XI as at St. James's? Allow me to refresh your memory:Button; Odoi, Kalas, Ream, Malone; McDonald, Johansen (Parker 90'); Kebano (Fredericks 84'), Cairney, Ryan Sessegnon; Sone Aluko (Cyriac 88'). Haven't replicated it since. Why not? We can still blow this, so I'd like to see some shake 'em up, take 'em out of their comfort zone stuff from the boss. But who am I to second guess him? All he's done is turn the whole bloody thing around. Let's hope he's got some more magic up his sleeve to get us into the post season.

Win at home convincingly and we're back on track.

Whatever else happens today, I'd REALLY like to see us score off of a corner...or ANY set piece, for that matter. Seems like we haven't hit one in forever.

I will, of course, take this season's result over the past two, but McCormack did make any free kick within 30 yards dangerous. It seemed like we got about a 1/3rd of our scoring off of set pieces the past two years, but this year I can't remember a single free kick that went straight in. I'm sure it happened, but not with as much frequency as before.

OMG Bettinelli is starting in goal! Our lineups have been so consistent I barely even paid attention. Ream also gets the hook - unfairly I think, but I don't care if we get a win.

    Bettinelli
    Fredericks, Kalas, Madl, Malone
    Johansen, McDonald
    Aluko, Cairney, Ayite
    Martin

Button, Sessegnon, Ream, Parker, Kebano, Piazon, Cyriac on the bench.

Yeah, I think Button and Ream get the hook in response to Tuesday, but i have no problem with that. Parker is at least fit enough to appear on the bench. Shall we get three, then?

Now THAT'S more like it! I think Joka, or somebody, had the proverbial "come to Jesus" meeting with Chris Martin. Whatever, he and the majority of the lads brought it today. Conceding late seems to be the only blemish on this outing. Ain't gonna bitch about it. Three points and a step closer to the playoffs. COME ON!!!

So I actually made it to the Cottage and our performance was very encouraging - almost as encouraging as the performance of Marcus who saved our bacon a couple of times!

I'm toying with going to the Villa game to keep my win streak going - Villa won't be easy by any means but COYWs.
