Eligible for Sheffield eh? Guess Burn is going to have to wait a bit longer to ever get in the 1st team again?

Hey, a 30+ year old loanee. What a radical departure from our previous track record.

Does this mean that he won't be available in the season finale vs Norwich?

I'm hoping that our standing doesn't come down to getting a result in the last match of the season, but it would be a huge blow to have to sit him if he's playing well for us.

I remember when he was the hot prospect for clubs outside of the big 5....five or six years ago. He ultimately went to Sunderland for 12M.

Now? Don't see the point unless the club really thinks we're in danger of going down this year.

Wouldn't be surprised if there is some sort of future fee or an option to keep him on loan next season.

To what end? It's a consolidation move. Signing Turner doesn't get us back to the Prem & it doesn't build for a future run at promotion as he'll be either gone or too old (he turns 32 later this year) before we get back.

I just don't see this as anything other than more of the same suspect decision making.

Not saying him being around past this season would be a good move just saying I wouldn't be surprised if it happened.

I gotta say I'm a little surprised by all the negativity here. We have an awful defense. So we've signed an experienced defender who might be able to come in and provide some organization and leadership at the back. Is he going to lead us back to the PL? No. But right now that's the least of our worries. Plus it's March, we aren't going to bring in a world class CB. To me, this signing really can't make our defense much worse, and it might just make it a smidge better. At least we're doing something.

My point is that it's highly unlikely we're going down this year. Therefore I'd rather see the guys we already own continue to get the experience and try to further develop partnerships.

Unless, as I said at the start, that Kit has seen enough and doesn't think they'll be a factor as starters in his short term future plans.

I really don't see that as being negative.

I definitely get that point AggieMatt (gonna go with AM from now on). It's a point that I've used earlier in the season with Fofana taking time from Hyndman and LVC (both now injured obviously). I think that was a slightly different situation though since Fofana is also a young player, and I'm not convinced he brings more than Hyndman or LVC.

I think Turner is an experienced player who can guide our young CBs a little bit. Sure he isn't a world-beater, but he's played in PL and excelled in the Championship. Maybe he can show Burn and Hutch how to lead and organize a defense.

Another side point I've thought about with this is that I think Kit may be realizing he can't organize our defense on his own. I wonder if earlier in the season we didn't bring in an experienced CB because Kit thought he could whip us into shape. Now he's realizing he can't quite pull that off on his own so he's reached out to someone who can help him on the field.

    ...Just a thought.

Putting Turner straight into the starting lineup speaks volumes. Even with the cushion it's better to make a move like this earlier than later. Simply can't afford a second straight drop, so if Turner can help In that regard I'm all for it. The big concern for me is the development of Dan Burn or lack thereof. Still a big believer in him (if paired with the right partner). I'm just hoping it's not the end of the line for him in a Fulham kit.

I, for one, would like to see Burn and Hutch as the CB pair. I'm not in charge, though.
