Well, here it is. We've arrived at the fixture I've been dreading since we were relegated. Even though the Lions sit three places below us in the relegation zone, the 10-ish mile trip east promises to be an unpleasant one. Millwall are known primarily for rowdy supporters, historically, the rowdiest in English football history. So it'll be a hardy soul indeed that makes the short trip to back our lads for this one.
On the pitch, who knows what to expect in this league. They're managed by Ian Holloway, who was at Blackpool when I joined the fray here. Don't know what style Millwall's playing now, but 'pool was a shoot first and defend if you have to outfit with him at the helm. They're 2-3-1 in their last six, so, again, who knows what to expect from them. Or us, for that matter. I would like to see two things: 1) Bryan Ruiz for 90+ minutes on the pitch, and 2) Changes on the back line, preferably Hoogland back and Burn given another shot. Or something that would allow Stafylidis to move up and get us back to the lineup we had when we ripped off 3 wins in a row and 4 out of 5 with a draw when Kit was still caretaker. We haven't done well since Fofana's arrival and now Tunnicliffe's. And LVC hasn't regained his pre-injury form. Hopefully a solid week of training unencumbered by any cup activity will help. Stop me if you've heard any of this before.

Two away fixtures in a row, and in serious danger of getting sucked into the danger zone if the lads don't get some points. Of the two, Millwall is by far the worse team at home having lost or drawn 12 of their 15 fixtures (conversely the next opponent Wolves have won or drawn 11 of their 15 home matches). Not too early to call this a '6 pointer'. Our boys desperately need to pull it back together and get a positive result, 3 would be great, but 1 is a minimum requirement.

Fulham need a momentum changer as much. as they need the three points at this point.

Agree with Barry on this one.

Jump, the Millwall rep is living on past laurels for the most part. We're 20-30 years removed from the height of their deplorability. Unless Westham are involved.

The only arena in which I was slightly terrified for the entirety of a match was the Old Den -- and I was sitting on the Millwall side. They're perhaps THE most dysfunctional team in English football now. They've not won at home since September I believe. I think we win and give ourselves a little bit of a boost before we lose to Wolves later on.

My first ever trip to London, I actually did a bunch of it solo and my first game was Millwall-Oldham Athletic by myself at the New Den since it was the only midweek game at the time. Naive me got there early and sat at the back of the Cold Blow Lane stand since everyone there was sitting in the first couple rows. By kickoff, the stand was packed and I was in the middle of the diehard fans. I was slightly scared/intimidated and just made sure to clap when they did things well.

Got back to the US and read a week later that they got into a fight with West Ham fans during a FA Cup match and some people got stabbed.

An old colleague's mother grew up a Millwall supporter in the 1960s / 70s. He'd go back to matches when they visited family in the 2000s and, oh boy, the stories he would share even then...

I'm going to put a candle in the window, in order to bring home an away win.

Not the line up I would have gone with either. Feel like we are likely to go down a goal in the first half, add Ruiz in the second, and then see if we give ourselves enough time to recover - almost like last week!

Another apathetic performance from Team Apathy.

I think we're headed for a relegation fight. I just hope we survive it this time.

No surprise about this result, 2 teams struggling big time. Has anyone seen the Hugo disallowed goal? Was he offside? Would gladly of taken an ugly 1-0 smash & grab.

Unfortunately Wolves are going into next week's match riding high after a 5-0 thrashing of Rotherham (silver lining is Rotherham is below us in the table)

Here's the video I posted in the chat. It's tough to tell from when the ball is played because Hugo is not in the picture. My feeling from watching it through pause frames is he WAS onside (but again tough to tell for sure):

Seeing highlights of the game, it sure looked to me like Hugo was inside. I know its hard to say this after only seeing highlights, we should have won this game. Milwall had only a few decent chances whereas we had about 4 or 5 shots that should/could have been goals. But with that said this was the first clean sheet in the league since December against Leeds so that's something positive.

Obviously, I didn't watch it. Do you have a point? Or is it your contention that 0 goals from 2 shots on target while continuously trying to force the ball through the middle with a sub standard midfield is somehow riveting?

I get that your fed up with negative feedback. I'm fed up with our taking the same middling approach to every single match.

I'd have to say that based on the lines from the mowed grass it did look like Rodallega was a step offside, but it was very, very close either way.

I didn't watch the full replay, but from the highlights Millwall's defense was atrocious! I can't believe we couldn't put one in the net with some of the opportunities we were given. Players ran clear in to the box or their defense was entirely out of position, yet we couldn't finish.

I'm discouraged that Hoogland didn't even get a place on the bench. I'd like to see him back soon and I'd thought he might see a little time yesterday. I don't think it would have made much of a difference since our issues against Millwall were mostly at the other end of the field.

No point. I just wondered if you had seen it, since you don't trust GJ. I was on an airplane at the time, so I don't know what was available or not.

My bad. It would appear I assumed a leading question where there wasn't one. I listened on & off via my phone.

I trust GJ on the basics of who is playing the ball & where. It's his opinions on things like who is controlling the match or playing better, ref decisions & severity of tackles & injuries that I no longer put any stock in.

I still trust him on who is wearing what color boots though.
