Very sad and particularly perplexing after learning how thorough the Italians are with screening youth players for heart defects.

Very sad indeed. I'm very curious as to what caused the cardiac arrest, because as Mo stated every Italian athlete is tested for heart disease and abnormalities. Although I was very confused about the initial news reports, several stories said he died of a heart attack...which is not the same thing as cardiac arrest.

Wow, the tragedy is even greater when you read this article. Morosini had a difficult life. From an interview with him.

Morosini had acknowledged the difficulty of his circumstances in an interview with Guerin Sportivo back in 2005. "I have often asked myself why all this happened to me, but I never get an answer and that just makes it hurt more," he said. "But life goes on. These are things that mark you and change you. But at the same time they give you the drive to do everything you can, and in my case to realise dreams that belonged to my parents as well as me. I want to become a great footballer for them more than anything, because I know how happy they would be."

Article goes on to say the cause of death is still unknown.

Very tragic news. As someone who is also 25, it's a little hard to process especially an athlete that is in much better shape than me. Really makes you stop and think.
