Hello from Maryland!

Postby Ghoul » Fri Mar 02, 2012 11:40 pm

Hi all! I am Ghoul, a 23 year old male from Silver Spring, Maryland. I've been a Fulham fan for 8 years now. Like a lot of Americans here, I started following Fulham when Brian McBride was shipped out there. He was my favorite player in the MLS that didn't play for DC United. They've been my British team since and now that i'm a bit older and more knowledgeable of the EPL, i'm glad I chose to root for the Cottagers and don't look like a indistinct lemming rooting for one of the big four!!

As for the current team, yes, I do like Dempsey a lot, but my favorite player is Brede. Pure class in the back! I'm also really liking Moussa's play as of late.

Other football clubs I root for include Real Madrid (my dad was a big fan and made me a fan at a young age), DC United here in the states, the US national team and the Dutch national team (fell in love with their style of play during the '98 world cup- an endless list on that clockwork orange team).

I'm a huge sports fan in general and basically root for all DC sports teams except the Nats (go O's). I'm a Maryland grad and root for the Terps as well!

Any questions? :)

*edit to add that i'm pretty stoked to see ex-Real Madrid Mahamadou Diarra play for the Whites!

Welcome Ghoul! Looking forward to seeing Diarra play as well. Do you attend many DC United games? Everyone is in agreement that hopefully they can move forward and get a stadium built, because the DCU fans have shown the way for MLS supporter groups to follow.

I try to attend as many games as I can which ends up being about 4 games a year. It'd be tragic if arguably the most successful team in MLS history has to relocate. Things don't look great right now in terms of a long term resolution for them to stay in DC. But I'll just have to enjoy their presence here while I still can. :(

Welcome to the site, Ghoul. Hopefully United will find a permanent home in the distrcit. But, like you, I don't have much hope of that happening. :(

Welcome Ghoul! As a Crew fan, I definitely share your appreciation of McBride.

Also, it'll be good to have another young guy around these parts :P

Welcome Ghoul!

And there's no question that United needs to stay put. There's gotta be a way to make it happen. Too much history and tradition there to allow it to just go away. The game in this country NEEDS them to rebound and become a force again.

Welcome, Ghoul. Sounds like we started rooting for Fulham around the same time. I guess I was a few months later on because it was around November 2004. McBride grew up about 20 miles North of where I grew up and I also really liked Boca (I didn't become a Chicago Fire fan until later, but Boca was a great player for the Fire back in the day).
